Good morning! The coffee cart is up and running. Water is near to boiling, coffee is brewed. For topics like birds and trees, for debriefing from 'incidents' in nearby dwellings, we are here.

Good morning. It is a much quieter start to the day today. Thank goodness. Dog and I had an enjoyable walk around the park. Dog walked with a lose leash most of the way making the walk more pleasant. She's been a puller and we've been working on that. Today is laundry day. I also have a phone case conference for my father who is going home from the rehab hospital tomorrow. He has done very well so can go back to his apartment. He has agreed to a fall alert system. That's big for a stubborn, independent man.
 
Another cloudy day but the snow is gone except for the odd patch. There's still some in the yard but the roads and sidewalks are clear. Not sure what to do today... I'm supposed to work later this afternoon for a few hours. The clouds do affect my mood. I've definitely noticed a difference when I get outside on sunny days. Speaking of laundry, I think I'll do a load.

Our lab has it set up so you can't sit close to another person unless there's plexiglas between the two. They also have it structured so the waiting room won't have over a certain number of people. They have a text based line-up and the ability to make appointments. It's much better than pre-covid.

The hospital lab is walk in only. It's a very spacious area but with the layout people tend to crowd in certain areas. I find any waiting room it's almost next to impossible to stay 2m away if most of the seats are taken, the chairs may be 2 m apart but that doesn't allow for walking space. Here, it could be possible but there are too many people standing around, hanging out by the check in desks, etc. The lab itself has always had separate cubicles.

The person doing my MRI today is actually someone I knew from gradschool - wife of one of the guys from the lab. I got a little bit of extra info from her ie. on my last one the size of the liver wasn't mentioned and I didn't know if that meant no change or if it meant it was back to normal, I was informed that if it's an abnormal size that needs to be noted, even if it's not a difference from before. I also got assurance the largest tumour size will be noted.

So nothing about these results yet, but a bit of generalize interpreting info plus good to know about the biggest tumour, I was annoyed that last time they picked a random one and then it was like did that have the greatest size change? Average? Etc. This time around I shouldn't have so many questions when the report shows up.

Ours was like that pre-covid. Then they had it so only three clients could be inside at one time. Island Health only made this new system a couple months ago. They added the plexiglas around the same time. I really like the new system. I was concerned about people not connected by cell phone or internet. They seem to have considered that and have a way to accommodate them. I believe this city is a second test launch for the program. I was never fond of the crowded lab waiting areas. This is a big improvement.

I wish they would do echeck i for the bloodwork aspect, but it's not an option. I did it for the MRI today and I think it was the first time it totally worked. I still went to the desk - because in the past I always had to and when she started asking my phone number etc. I did verify that I looked at it when I did the online option. I guess with the walk in though people might check in and then not even show up for another hour or something.
As for waiting elsewhere, unless it's somewhere else in the outpatient hospital I don't think they really want people coming and going due to the screen process when entering.

Even when busy still 100x better than what I saw at dynalife. There it was like touching people walking in, here it's just the 2m is hard to manage at all times.
 
We have to check in to diagnostic imagining. The change they've made there and anywhere you have to check in is you can swipe your card and your info pops up on their screen. It's wonderful. It's so nice I don't have to spell my name five times before we can start. The people checking us in like it better too.

Reflecting on the past four months: Four dogs that I have loved have died. I know that is not a huge deal in the state of the world right now where there is covid suffering, and Texas suffering and political malaise. But I don't think I've ever had a 4 month period like this before, where I have had to say goodbye to truly loved animals. Just an interesting observation.
 
So sorry Nancy. Four dogs in four months is a lot of missing friends

That's too many friends in too short a time, @Nancy. Vibes and condolences.

Yeah, nice again here today. Not sure of the temperature but the sun is shining bright and there's meltwater dripping off the roof (my office is on the South side so it's just the sun warming the roof, not warm enough for an actual thaw).
 
Nancy - that is a lot of loss in ashort time. It is so sad and challenging when things happen one on top of another. Barely time to deal with one thing before another lands. Gentle hugs coming your way via the screens.

I've had a crazy busy morning with crappy internet. xplorenet came by as part of a free program to check if we can connect to the towers. even in winter, there is no connection. Said we would need a tower....yup. StarLink can not come soon enough for us.

Lovely home, on the side of wooded ravine, with road at the bottom, and bends in the road both ways, so, basically, trees as far as the eye can see with blue sky above. Lovely...not great for internet towers.
 
That is one infrastructure project I hope they get going on. Better service for rural communities
