On the radio yesterday about the real estate market booming in rural Nova Scotia. Houses bought sight unseen from Ontarians moving here. Nice stories of families moving to Parsborro and of course having to quarantine, but their furniture being delayed by several weeks. The community came together and dropped furniture off on their lawn. One artist painted the view out of every window of his new house during quarantine and put it on facebook.

Yeah, I wonder if it's just the hospital isn't prepared enough with 'to go' sort of style as opposed to drop off and pick up? One would think they would have preparations done though. Maybe depends on the individual hospital though.

Why would they need a "to go" service? Hospitals have been feeding people for some time. They don't need outside food. Generally.

I'm thinking in terms of disposables. People going room to room to pick up items isn't ideal right now. I know my sister had a bit of pandemic training for food and the ideal was everything prepackaged and only the person consuming would open it.

Hospitals use disposables too much sometimes. The virus also spreads with people. Extra bodies can't be good.
 
Germany just decided on a hard lockdown starting December 16 until at least January 10 th. Their light lockdown version did only briefly work by keeping infection rates level, now they are having almost 30 000 a day and the capacity of available ICU beds is down to 15% and shrinking. All schools and non essential stores are closing, only take out allowed, but it cannot be consumed in front of the store ( anti- maskers had been having demonstrations by assembling in front of a take out in groups and consuming it right there, not keeping distance).
For Christmas, households are allow3d to meet with one other household for atotal of 10 people, not counting kids under 14.
For New Years, fireworks are banned from all public places and the hope is that the lack of availability will reduce private fire works- usually, selling fireworks is only allowed the week before the 31st, but the Germans spend millions every year on it and have their private fireworks in front of their house.
The hospitals have asked the government to prevent that because of the many injuries that go along with it. Every year on New Years kids pick up unexploded fireworks and get seriously injured. Consuming alcohol in public will be banned, which will also prevent injuries with fireworks.
Nursing home staff will be quick tested at least twice a week.
Germany has a populist right wing party in Parlament which is denying Covid to be serious which has a Trumpian effect on the population.
 
Germany’s reasoning is that Covid is behaving like the flu with regards to seasonal fluctuation, which means that January/ February would be the highest incidences - but contrary to the flu, there is no immunity and no immunization in the population ( yet), and considering the higher severity of the course of it (minimum time in ICU of 14 days compared to two days with flu), all German Provinces finally were able to agree.
I am expecting a run on businesses before the 16 th.

Nice to see the gov't cracking down nationally for the protection of the majority who also agree.....personally I've lost patience with the anti maskers and others not taking social distancing seriously or even the virus and how dangerous it is.
 
Being illuminated and aware ... is not generally accepted by authorities that would rather keep many of their mental processes out of sight!

A deep study of the human psyche may be required ... even if you believe it best if non-existent!

Thus often it goes ... and oligarchs may not even be cognizant of the departure ... holy vacancies ... there are other words for it! Dip ease?
 
One of the organizers of a big anti mask Querdenker demonstration in Leipzig is now one week later intubated in ICU . His physicians declared they are fighting for every life, no matter the attitude of the patient. However, they are having trouble with tracing contacts and making people isolate, as most of them are not wearing masks or distance.
 
Then there are other gods that wear masks and are generally unseen ... not a sign as they are trans parent crossover stuff ... iconic?

Later there may be signs ...

They say it was like that in Louis' courts ... high folk mess 'n around in des robe 'n ...
 
My niece, who is a physician on a covid unit has told her mother that 30-40% of the staff at her hospital is off sick with the result that out of four units only two can be staffed and the covid patients in ICU are looked after not just by ICU trained staff but by ANY doctor, because they don’t have enough.
Berlin has closed most of the Emergency rooms because of lack of staff and beds and anybody with an emergency now must be driven to a far away hospital in the outskirts of Berlin. Which likely means that heart attacks and strokes will not survive which they could have if people hadn’t insisted on “ their right to not wear masks” and called COvid a hoax.
A study found out that the highest incidences of infections are in the areas where the AFD party got the most votes. The right wing “ Alternative for Germany” party has been allied with the “Querdenker” movement which was behind the anti masker demonstrations. ( though it doesn’t surprise me that AFD voters also believe everything conspiracy they read on the internet.)

Yeah, I agree, was just trying to state a possibility. I suppose an outbreak with the kitchen/those who deliver is another reason.
 
*sigh* New cases aren't really going down here. There was a significant dip one day but for the most part it's in the 1500-1800 range, which is a bit better than that 1800+. Good to see that it's not going up, but holding constant isn't good either. I expect to see some spikes as well, from people rushing out before services closed today and then from Christmas gatherings because people will break the law.
 
holding steady isn't great - but when rates had perhaps been exponential, holding steady is kinda okay - and one wouldn't expect to see rates diminishing I think for a couple of weeks after increasing the restrictions.

It was being proposed to expect to see that after 2 weeks though. Today there was a new high :(
 
My mother’s nursing home has changed the visiting rules. Now, one dedicated person can go in to visit for one hour in her room per week, but has to come 30 minutes early to do a quick covid test. That person may change weekly. - that, I like. For Christmas, however, people are allowed to take the residents home, according to local regulations ( which is two households may meet with maximum five people over the age of 14 - under 14 doesn’t count). I would hope they will test the residents after Christmas , but this makes me very uncomfortable.
 
Nova Scotia increases the number of visitors in nursing homes to two designated ones, but no resident is to leave the home to go into families.
