WE. What in earth is going on?

My blog for today was the most depressiing I have ever written. I've come to believe in those researchers who say that humans and naturally evil. Our larger brains have made us evil with the ability and desire to destroy, to kill, and to plunder both animals and other humans. Christianity has had close to no effect on that. In the U.S., people will flock to the very unchristian idiocy of evangelicalism - but not to the message of Jesus. They are the backbone of the Trump following but, like Trump, they haven't the slightest connection with the teaching of Jesus.

The Christian Jesus, allowing the evangelicals into that category, have been mass killers throughout the whole history of the U.S with non-stop mass murders thoughout the U.S. (as native peoples) and around the world. We pretty much accept that, and even join in as in Korea, afghanistan, the middle eas, Latin America.

We have throughout history been murderers. We have only rarely been attacked by animals. No. People have died in their millions at the hands of other people.

We are evil. It's a central feature of being humans. And there is little place in our (large) human brains for Christian thought.

Yes. It was a very bad day on the blog.

The only good thing about humans is they provide a temporary carrier for the sole-brain connection that is fragile and may break by times to allow the psyche to back out in the dark and look the insanity over. It may conclude taking flight is positive ... and there we go with the temporal break that may become absolute .. with any experience of looking back or other negative flashback by those preferring warring aggression as a means of a isolating commonwealth in a few powerful hans ... The temporal sol-brain connection as once archaically known as homeopathy (this is now a thin solution ... but meant at one time that a little bit is better than excesses). This is a precis definition of great morphing due to force, etc.

Normal humans are meant not to understand .. as understanding is a pain ... ignorance is bliss! Another conspiracy ...

So as this controversy/questionable decision has engulfed the government it has also tainted WE

does this charity/business so good? if so , what is the “good” That they actually do

they take rich families on trips. They treat kids to pep Rallies to inspire them to act

but it is starting to look a bit iffy, particularly the way money moves around and the unusual amount of real estate holdings a charity has

and so sponsors are dropping out. Tellus, a big sponsor of WE Day and a Donor of $20 million Has severed ties

Have you ever seen anything supported by strong poles (extremists) that wasn't questionable? No medium allowed ... could devolve into intermediate thought!

As with anything...I like to hear both sides.
Has WE done any good? Are there good people with good intentions involved with WE? Are "well off kids" not allowed to benefit from a WE experience?
You present a good case, is there anything good to say about WE? What are the kids saying about their experiences?
How is WE explaining amassing that much real estate? Are they buildings bought for the kids to come to for example,?

Like the quantum state of great expanse of cerebral activity ... it has its ups and downs as poles switch position ... and project from out there ... NDE?

As long as one doesn't support a disenfranchised sibling ... support shunning! Thus the medium is eliminated in a psssss'đ fashion ... renalized? Look it leaks ... like WIKI!

Part of the real estate connection, from what I understand is that the parents of the two young men who started WE are...real estate agents. They tend to view property as an investment the same way stockbrokers view their investment tools.

So not buildings they own for offices or students use?

It does seem like they have a building downtown for student use. Not sure what use but assuming perhaps they give seminars or training? And they have built schools. Not sure if they give money to locals to build the school, which is the proper way or if a group of untrained kids go over to play carpenter for a week. But apparently there are schools

it is a interesting thing to delve into this. On one hand it has the potential to cause big problems for a minority government. And that is a case of them causing their own problem. Like no one in government looks deeply into things. It is very strange. It seems like someone should be in charge of keeping Justin out of trouble

and on the other hand the global brand of this charity/business is becoming very tainted. Several sponsors are now out, or thinking of getting out including some U.K. sponsors of its U.K. wing

i do wonder what exactly the purpose of it is. I get the idea of inspiring kids. That is a good thing. Though why it is the brand responsible for that I am not sure. When my kids were in school they had lots of inspiring auditoriums. Parents of fellow student doing amazing things. Paid speakers provided by the parents group. I remember one I went to was Chris Harnet, the bronze medalist cyclist for Canada. ( I may have his name wrong). But he was totally inspiring including discussing coming third, not first.
the schoolS had them doing Terry fox runs, raising money for camp Ooch, mentoring younger students when they were seniors, doing volunteer work.......

so while I get the thrill of a big pep rally it puzzles me at the same time

as to the other branch of what they do. The ecotourism/volunteerism. This is a big global thing. Kids take a year off to travel and “work”. it has become a new type of tourism. Don’t go to Kenya for a safari. go to Kenya to paint an orphanage........

but it is a questionable thing and it certainly is something out of reach to most Canadians

morneau and his family took two trips to the tune of $92,000 Now he is a rich man, he should have paid for these trips outright at the beginning. In fact as a cabinet minister he is forbidden from taking free trips. But ooops. Didn’t read that rule

however, $92,000 when the average family of four makes less than $60. For two trips. It shows who is accessing these WE trips. The wealthy and their kids

and I get that but for a charity to own $45 million in real estate is unusual

i don’t remember the exact rules but both our ballet school non profit and a no profit I was involved in through one of my kids schools had real rules to follow for the CRA. What I remember is that in a given year 90% of the money raised had to be used for the purpose it was raised for

our ballet school raised money to give bursaries for free classes to kids who couldn’t afford it. 100 % of the money raised was spent this way, I fact it was likely more like 150% as we never turned a kid down who needed help

our school fundraising was so different departments could get little extras. Each year all the money was paid out except $1000 which was used to start the next years events. The art teacher would get $1000, the music teacher $1000 and so on

so I find it strange that they have so much money and the idea that the money just moves back and forth from business to charity is very odd.

 Seriously? That sounds more like a pension fund than a charity. I mean, the Ontario teachers and OMERS (Ontario municipal employees) own office towers and malls and stuff, but I've never heard of a charity doing it.

Someone smart investigative journalist-author type person is going to get a hell of a book out of this, that's all I can say.

so this is a checklist for charities. What it says about disbursement isn’t clear. My thought that it was a specific percentage is incorrect. I think what it is saying is that you must disburse a certain amount but it sounds like that might be different for different charities

interestingly in the list of things a charity can do with their money is give money to another charity. Still pondering that

if I give money to say the cancer society, they can in turn give money to a different charity. Seems odd

I agree. A book is in the making by someone. but the time line for this is so convoluted it is going to take serious detective work

i also find it very surprising that the money flows so easily back and forth between the various arms of this octopus. The link I posted is pretty clear about accurate records being required but this seems pretty loosy goosy

and yes it does sound like a pension fund buying up real estate and interests in companies

feels like a house of cards is starting to fall.

on a separate note, there was a comment about paid speakers , somewhere. ( I have been reading so much that I get lost where things are). The point was how celebrities endorse things. Like trudeaus family with WE. Like actors advertising for whatever

and the idea that these people are being paid for their endorsements taints that

if a big star, say supports the Terry Fox run. Endorses it, extols people to participate, you would think it’s because they believe in it. Not because they are getting paid

Have they done any good? Sure, as have other charities, as have companies.
The money that was going to go to WE could have been allocated so much better. I hope it does get used well.

It's time to notice that we live in a world run by the wealthy to benefit the wealthy. That's been true for thousands of years. While the U.S. now has millions serving in the deepest poverty, the American wealthy are still making huge profits. Hitoricallly, the same has been true in the past for Britain, France, Belgium...
This goes back to the early days of trival chiefs, then of Kings and emperors, And now of the super wealthy. That's why so much of humanity has suffered dreadful poverty. And the appearance of Christianity has not many any dent in that.
The only function of most of us has been to work on the cheap, nd to die in the wars that benefit only the very rich. (yes. that includes W1, 2, Korea, Afghanistan, Iraq, Guatemala and all the ones we heard little about. When Americans return from each slaughter, they are cheered in the streets and by the political leaders.
I don't think Jesus would be in the cheering crowd.
We are now preparing for what could be the final war. And the only people it will benefit are the super rich - if they are among the few survivors.
Christianity has not made the slightest dent in that. (World War 2 often featured Christians on both sides.)

Animals don't slaughter on anything close to the scale we do. It's a human characteristic.

As I write this, millions of Americans are being turned onto the streets and poverty. The wealthy? They run the U.S. - and one reason so many Americans, including children, are dying of hunger is because the rich are so very well fed.

As it is, the whole U.S. (and much of Canada) is a denial of Christianity. That particularly includes evangelicals who think that all Christianity is about is getting them into heaven while all others go to hell. Seeing that, we should remember that they are major forces creating hell on earth.

And apparently. The Kenya vacation was at a WE resort. A luxury resort. $4000 pe r night.
what? Who does that. Well rich people obviously

why does a “charity” have a luxury resort in kenya

i honestly think we need to think of this as “charity” now. it is far from clear that it really is a charity

Lastpointe, if we're going to dig really hard into this, we are going to find Conservative involvement...I know of a story of a dinner for WE folk hosted at the PMO when Harper was PM... this is a rich people charity, working with rich people parties, no discrimination, particularly, between Whig and Tory...

Most likely. This has been one of those popular charities that I bet influential people feel they should support. And oddly no one seems to be wondering what exactly it does

will this take down morneau? I feel like he has had two strikes already with mistakes and this should be three strikes you are out. First there was his French villa that he “forgot “ to mention. Then there was “forgetting “ to put his family stock into a blind trust. A family company that deals its pensions. And low and behold he changed pension rules without thinking there was a conflict

and now he seems unaware that he had a conflict. Unaware that a minister is not allowed to take free trips.

the charity itself is an entirely different issue. It seems in the surface to be sketchy. It has far too much money. It treats wealthy people to fun tours at exorbitant cost. And it hopefully inspires kids to a life of service. Or does it inspire them to having parents with deep pockets

an interesting aspect of this is that during the past government they received approx $1 million in grants. And after Trudeau took power that has increased to $5 million. That smacks of giving money to friends. It might not be that but it has a stench to it
