Very beautiful pictures you're taking.....be careful of ticks in the long grasses, 'tis the season.

Yeah, if you think Covid is bad, Lyme is arguably worse. It doesn't kill you normally, but can be debilitating for years. Apparently singer-songwriter Avril Lavigne was bedridden for five months when she had it. And Shania Twain lost her singing voice for a while.

(What goes well with Coronavirus?...Lyme disease! ) ;):giggle:

Not much green here yet, grass is still pretty brown. I can see a bit of green if I look clsoely on the haskap bushes, but the buds aren't really open yet.

looks like a lovely little spot you have discovered Kimmio.

I worked inside on my garden for a while today - transplanting seedlings to larger pots :-) Another month & we should be getting them into the ground. Our son came by to pick up some stuff today too & we had good gardening chat - he & gf are going to do some balcony gardening this year since their usual big summer vacation is cancelled. They've been having fun learning, setting up garden lights & getting seeds planted.

Is that normal for the West coast, Rhododendron blooming by the end of April? We won’t see that until the first or second week of June here.
I think it's pretty normal. Apparently, May is Rhododendron month. By mid June I'm not sure what blooms are left.

Cowichan Valley is not far up Island from here. Here's info about Rhododendrons. It's says they can bloom here as early as January but I can't recall seeing that happen.

I've mentioned before...but in 2010 the cherry blossoms were already out while Vancouver hosted the Winter Olympics. People made a bit of fun of us for that.

I remember the NBC commentators doing a segment about coming to Victoria for the day on the seaplane - and they arrived in the inner harbour, to sunshine and blooms - quite uncharacteristic of most Winter Olympics.

In Wales, where rhodos are famous, the "ultimate" weekend is Whitsun, late May. We had one for a few years; killed it; they hate the deep cold.

From yesterday and today. Today, I took my scooter through a public/private but public granted access/enchanted forest/ grove. It’s another hidden gem that’s probably going to get developed. I was getting tired of looking at it from the edge of the road. I wanted to go through it. The grass was too long in spots and the trail was bumpy, covered in pine cones and twigs and tree roots. My scooter is not exactly meant to be an ATV...it was an adventure! I made it through unscathed, and my scooter’s fine, too.View attachment 3541View attachment 3538View attachment 3539View attachment 3542View attachment 3543View attachment 3544View attachment 3545View attachment 3546View attachment 3547

How lovely that you can get out and do some exploring. In my community there is NO nice place to go for a walk or ride. Have to get out of town for that.

I call this my back yard ...
....it is a 5 minute walk away from our front door. I did a walk about yesterday ... still some ice on the water and no blossoms did I find.
