I saw the deer right away, Kimmio Laughterlove.

Do you like having deer visit your garden, or do you find they wreak havoc, and you'd rather not have them?

I have many birdfeeders, and with them I get many squirrels and a few chipmunks.
They don't leave me many strawberries (I think they think I grow strawberries just for them), but I love to
see them scampering and chattering about, so I don't mind.
That was not my yard, so I'm not sure how they feel about deer. :) It didn't look like they kept a fancy yard/ garden. My landlords have a yard full of daisies and dandelions (I've noticed that even more well kept homes are weeding their lawns less - my landlady says it's to attract bees) and they like the deer. My parents live not far away and the deer drive them nuts. They always seem to eat something my stepdad was just so satisfied with growing. They rarely see them in the yard but they come in stealthily at night.

My mother has lived in Victoria for the last 25 years, and many gardens there are just destroyed by the deer.
I go to Victoria often, and see deer casually strolling everywhere. Some people pay a fortune (where everything costs a fortune already)
to put up fancy anti-deer fencing.

I have lots of things coming into bloom now - no recent photos because it's been so damn windy!! Let's see if I can list some of them - several varieties of daffodils (minis & full size); dark blue/purple hyacinths by my side door; pulmonaria; anenome; bloodroot; scilla; (crocus are finished now); iris reticulata; helebores (haha - I just typed herbivores instead - must have been thinking of those deer!!) forsythia; two primulas - one bright yellow, the other royal purple with yellow centres; pansies (just planted!); tulips are budding but far from opening; a little white flower from a bulb - not sure what it is! I think that's about it!

@Northwind - I love the macro photos you make - helps us really appreciate the incredible intricacy of nature's patterns & textures. My husband also does similar photography in the garden & nature - we are always amazed to examine his pics in even more detail once on the computer.

Love it! I don't really wear sweaters much anymore but maybe if I had one custom-made for me ... . Alas, Mrs. M hasn't knitted in years, though we still have a toque she made me a long time ago kicking around (actually, I think Little M has it in Ottawa).

From yesterday and today. Today, I took my scooter through a public/private but public granted access/enchanted forest/ grove. It’s another hidden gem that’s probably going to get developed. I was getting tired of looking at it from the edge of the road. I wanted to go through it. The grass was too long in spots and the trail was bumpy, covered in pine cones and twigs and tree roots. My scooter is not exactly meant to be an ATV...it was an adventure! I made it through unscathed, and my scooter’s fine, too.7AAAD203-DC09-47CE-8530-555D335609E9.jpeg5DAE44DA-E441-4AD5-A937-DE9D57518BA7.jpeg00B722C7-6709-4810-B91D-EFBA94AE3BC6.jpegA4373638-B050-42F8-8951-2C6BEDB28A1B.jpeg2099EF43-9F18-4CAD-8FE6-4E0147A7BA9C.jpeg8ABBC57F-A2BB-475E-B81A-DEC27DDA6B62.jpegCD265F04-4A18-4CD2-8837-494EAE48FBF4.jpeg5576F053-46FA-42FF-9677-8FCA709D79D3.jpeg9DC4D822-E87A-4D5D-B47A-FB74D5DE3269.jpeg

I know which thread I'm visiting next time I'm looking for a header image. :giggle:

(Though I'm also thinking of taking a break from nature images. Maybe some stained glass or other "church-y" image? I'll start a thread when I'm ready to change it.)
