My step dad's 80+. He hates having his routines disrupted...he's a good person as far as the people in my life.

He's been taking shopping lists and running around doing stuff for people. He can't go to his cards and book club. But I guess he'll be damned if you can keep him from doing the usual daily errands!

It's hard to stop doing errands. :cautious: I'm going to have to be more mindful myself.

There can be a positive outcome from this. We can't just run out to eat out. All the restaurants are closed. A lot of entertainment venues are closed, rec centres, theatres, casinos, etc. We are going to be forced to find other ways to amuse ourselves. I saw several family groups out riding bikes yesterday. There were people outside hiking and walking today. We saw a group of guys on mountain bikes on the trails. This can be and will likely be good for some family connecting. I'm concerned about the marginal or abusive families and the kids who don't get breaks by going to school. I'm concerned about the kids that struggle in school. This will be a mixed blessing.

Teenagers are out in close packs still. This so far doesn't seem to be bothering them. And they're not at high risk of getting sick(most, next to no risk) and don't spend much time (most of them) with seniors and high risk groups (though some do).

We're actually doing a bit of take-out lately. For now I feel like the risk is still small, there's community transmission, but low for now, don't know how long we will consider doing that for.

Chancellor Angela Merkel held a really good, reasonable speech today, stating that this is the most extreme/ challenging time since WW2 and saying that ,because we are a democracy, she has an obligation to explain why those measures are taken and it is for sure that these are temporary measures

I propose a world parliament with just two politicians - Angela Merkel and Jacinda Ardern - and get rid of the blokes in suits.....

Yeah, except, in his case, there was nothing wrong with going to the library and community centre for a game of cards or book club...it’s not the same thing as entertainment consumerism. I think he’s sad about not being able to go.

Okay, I get the point...it’s much worse than they thought. Before anyone jumps on my back. But seriously, they have a fascist leadership I wouldn’t trust on much of anything...some did try to warn about that. North America didn’t notice or care. That’s worse than most people thought, or didn’t think about, too.

Here we go...there we went...

I’ve realized i’ve been expecting something like this, but I didn’t know from what angle it would “take”. I’ve built up resilience to fear. I have it but I can live with it. Yes, the virus is real (not sure it’s more dangerous than say, Hep or some super-bacteria but it’s real). So is every other problem, don’t forget.

Can’t trust him further than you can throw him...but now, who can argue? He got the dems riled up for not doing enough, then he flipped his position. It was a gotcha. Ye old switcheroo. Master gaslighter.

f***! Excuse my French, but, f***!

i think the world might’ve f***ed up again... just sayin’ ...supposing this is “not as bad as predicted” ... in a couple of months...”they” decide “they” like the power of running such a tight ship...how and when do the rest of we humans get out of this jam? You guys do what you want, I’ll listen to what the youth want to happen. If there’s to be a future... They’re it.

Distance yourself ... intelligence is out there beyond the inner thingy!

I do believe Sam Johnson stated something like this in a mid English lexicon! Thus gravid expressions ...
