My specialist's office (one I saw last week and ordered the tests) called me this morning. They want to see me. Either they are hiding the antibody tests online from me, or they are calling me in based on the non-specific tests already.
Got that back, negative. So that leaves the most serious option of what I have been told about, or else something totally different.

Arghhhh I can't believe the arrogance of some of the staff at my GP's clinic. They do not have my test results that I have received this past week. - why I don't know as the clinic was supposed to be included on them which is the first time I found out that was an option. They do have the ones from Sept though.
She is trying to convince me that my tests are normal and there is no need to be concerned - I was just calling on the status of my referral letters.

I painted the brick around our original fireplaces - used regular latex paint. It's time consuming ... poking into all the mortar lines etc. - slow going. Of course have to wash, brush, clean the brick very well first. Took a couple of coats. I'm not sure how chalk paint would work - I have used it on furniture, but then waxed it with several coats of wax when fully dry - to improve durability & give it a bit of luster.
Apparently it can be done with chalk paint. I’m not sure why I can’t just take a roller and some diluted paint and do it in a few minutes with one coat. I don’t want solid white, just a dusting of white over red brick...if you get what I mean.

try if you can, not to get ahead of yourself .... Thursday will be here soon & you will hopefully have some good discussion with your doc.

I think it would be difficult to get a somewhat even application of paint using a roller. Lowe's has this method suggested - which I think would work well. But as you say - you'd need help to reach to upper levels in any case. https://www.lowes.com/n/how-to/whitewash-a-brick-fireplace

I will be taking in printed test results to my GPs clinic this week. At my appointment with her I can access them on my phone, but I have also seen it's an issue when they are unable to look at them beforehand.
I really don't know, maybe she has been able to have access but based on the receptionist I feel like this is a reasonable step.

I feel like Greta - how DARE she tell you your results are normal. Her job is making appointments and keeping the paper work straight - not interpreting medical tests. I think (actually I KNOW) that I would be mentioning this to my doc.

Oh I certainly will be. Especially as this was a 2nd time and the first caused a delay with getting an appointment, I called almost a month about it and was told the doctor didn't think it was a concern, so no need to come in over it.

That's not for her to say. I'd want confirmation from the doctor, even if it's just in a phone call.

I was able to get all my dressings changed today. Ah. It felt like changing into clean clothes. The nurse was impressed with how I'm healing so far and said I'm doing well. That's what I want to hear. Here's hoping it continues.

There you go again - making it all look easy!

I met the med students I will mentor for the next 2 years. They are low on patient mentors, almost everyone has 3 students instead of 2.
They seem like a good group. Wasn't too sure how I would be feeling for going to this today, but talking about all my been there done that medical stuff was a good distraction from my figuring it out medical stuff.

Not really sure what to hope from the appointment tomorrow. Diagnosis is not going to happen, all the positive tests are too vague. Maybe finding out some more possibilities so I can have a less serious condition that I can focus on for now? Also one of the results is an indicator of something that can also cause more problems. I don't now how high is necessary for that, but if I'm anywhere close I hope that can be treated at least short term without concerns of it masking future tests.

How does this work? Are you helping them to learn from you as a patient or through your profession or both?

like you're having a smooth recovery and I'm glad!

Well smooth might be a bit too strong. Still, so far side effects and whatnot have not been horrible. So far recovery from surgery has been smooth. I may need to remind myself to chill. I feel good, yet of course tire easier than normal. The tiredness does not compare to chemo fatigue, so I have to remember to honour it. I'm looking forward to hearing from the surgeon re: path report. I'll have a couple of questions that can wait until I hear from him. I suspect I'll also hear from the oncologist and will ask her questions at that time. My last appointment with her was weird, so questions came we were driving out of the parking lot. They're also questions that can wait.

Could you elaborate a bit on this 'mentoring'. It is something I've never heard of - maybe it is province related? What are the goals of the programme and how intensive is it for the students and patients?

Doctor is going in a different direction now - a rare genetic disorder. Seriously WTF is up with my luck?
Things seem a bit off though, as I have 2 tests that are high that are used for that. Usually 1 is high, 1 is low with this disorder. Went for a blood genetic test today, 24 hr urine collection and an ophthalmologist can be helpful in doing a test too, so waiting to here from one.
If this is negative, biopsy is the next step which is going to be a hassle with my HAE. I already messaged my nurse days ago about that possibility even though it hadn't been mentioned yet. She's great so I didn't feel too weird asking about it early and now I have internet access to contact info she messaged me so if I ever forget to bring it I can pull it up online.

I thought I had posted about this before but maybe I didn't mention much. Will talk about it more later - if I forget, remind me!
Here's an article about it - Patient Immersion Experience the other side of chronic illness | Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry
This is my 2nd time around, so I had 2 students for 2 years and that finished up last spring. 3 students for the next 2 years now.

They started doing this here in 2013.
