Room For All

Welcome to Wondercafe2!

A community where we discuss, share, and have some fun together. Join today and become a part of it!

I spent today at Five Oaks - did a few hours work trimming the hedge around the meditation garden & digging a bit - the soil is SO dry and very, very hard! I surely hope we get some forecasted rain tonight or tomorrow!

Then this evening I went to a community meeting about the Indwell supported housing project coming to my neighbourhood. What a great presentation & terrific staff - it will be a joy to have this much needed resource in our community. They anticipate construction will start in October - with occupancy in Jan 2021 :-)

I see, my garden will be in good hands! ( Shall I leave you some weeds to pull, in case you get bored)

Good morning, all! Before the gardening and the weeding begins, have some tea, coffee, or other beverage of your choice.

Weeds ... defined as being something growing where not expected ... could explain many disaffected politicians regarding education, etc!

Stuff we should be cognizant of ... brute weakness! It is a stray thought ...

Just got back from a whirlwind trip to the Maritimes...went with friends who did the planning and driving; we paid for gas. Felt it was fair. What a beautiful part of the world. My favourite was Peggy's Cove and Fort Louisbourg. We went to Cape Enrage on the foggiest day ever, so couldn't see the view. Loved wandering on the ocean floor at low tide.

Nova Scotia is a beautiful part of the world. We have toward parts of it over the years, most recently when Mrs. anteater generously loaned to us her house for a month while she was away. But it sounds like you pass through New Brunswick, Nancy, without stopping to check out some of ours interesting spots. We are used to be that drive-through province. People who make their plans and stopped for a few days find beauty, uniqueness, history, good food and hospitality here as well.
Anybody driving through are invited to stop in for a few minutes or a few days to break up their drive. I'd love to meet you.
I understand that that is not always practical, especially when travelling with other people.

We loved Peggy's Cove and Lunenburg, when my wife and I traveled there some years ago.
The coffee and tea cart is ready for your use. Enjoy!

We stayed in Woodstock New Brunswick, and enjoyed a breakfast in Fredericton (Claudine's Eatery). We also saw a little of St. Andrew and St. Stephen. But, the whole trip was like one big 'pass through'. One of the people we travelled with had mobility issues...hence, all the driving. But New Brunswick is beautiful too, Seeler! And I sure wish I could have done some visiting...It would have been great to meet you.

I will second this. As mentioned before, Mrs. M taught at Dal for a couple years right around the time we got married so I came close to living there. We saw, I think, most of the province during that time, mostly just taking driving trips from her place in Halifax. I kind of wish things had worked out so we could have stayed but I wasn't having much luck finding work. The library scene down there was dominated by their own grads (Dal had a library school) and I wasn't really ready to make the jump to IT yet.

Yes! Please do! I will very happily putter in your garden if that's okay with you. And my mate is a good handyman ... if there are any small things needing attention!

Ugh, a little chair fell apart on me while I was out in the garden. Chair is probably being too generous, it's a little seat. Not sure what they are called, my dad had something similar for fishing, it goes almost flat and the bottom pieces need to be latched together for it to be set up.

I was leaning forward at the time, so putting pressure back on the chair and it was likely already tilted a bit before the thing came apart. I fell backwards, banging my lower back on the garden box behind me.
I iced already, just hoping this doesn't lead to a swell as if it does I imagine that's going to cause issues with my legs as well due to the nerves. I infused pretty late last night, so hopefully I'm covered.

This one at least looks wider than what we have.
Why do we even have this? I do use it just because it's tiny and low so fits easily. Surely there are sturdier options. Something that can only open so far, instead of relying on the bottom latch to open completely.

Hope you didn't seriously injure yourself, and that you're already on the mend. Falls are so dangerous. They usually catch us by surprise and happen so quickly without warning.

Good morning, world! Happy weekend! Cart is ready for your enjoyment.

enjoyed - thank you! My task for today is to try chalk painting a piece of furniture :-) Have the first coat done - looks like what I've seen in the videos - so fingers crossed for second coat in a while!

Gosh ChemGal - sorry to hear about your tumble! How are you feeling today? I have a few different things I sit on in the garden - sometimes an old rubbermaid stool which is very sturdy - kids used to use it to stand on to reach the sink to brush their teeth :-) The other is a pretty solid bucket, turned upside down with a foam kneeling pad on top for a bit more comfort. Lee Valley makes a very good quality kneeler/stool ... do you have a birthday coming up? Folding Kneeler Stool & Tool Holder - Lee Valley Tools

I'm good, although stiff today. It's not the first time I've fallen off that thing, as the ground is uneven and I think I have trouble properly latching it. Usually though it's more of a sideways thing and it's so low to the ground it's not a problem. Yesterday I was trying to reach far into the garden boxes, typically I would just get up to do that. If there wasn't anything behind me it would have startled me but probably not hurt. No more putting pressure backwards onto it or in the direction of anything!

I hope you feel better ChemGal

We've had a good day here. I went to a group for women today. It was nice. Since it was at the library I decided to get a library card. I learned that gives me access to Acorn TV. Bonus. Hopefully we can continue to watch Midsomer Murders. :)

I'm surprised there's no visible bruise, I thought I hit it hard enough for that. I can certainly feel a bruise if I touch my back. Besides that I stiffen up faster than usual and that's it so shouldn't cause me any issues at this point.
