How was church today?

For today's sermon Rev. Sheena came out wearing a construction worker hardhat. The scripture was from Mark about John the Baptist coming to smooth the way for Jesus. Sheena spoke of how we have a lot to thank the construction workers of our world for. Being able to get around on nice surfaces and thanks as well to the snow plow operators for smoothing our way in winter. Sheena then spoke about how each of us can work on smoothing some of the mountains that separate us from one another whether the mountains are cultural or political or whatever. Not quite the sermon I was expecting on the Joy Sunday in Advent, but very good nonetheless. Also, as bonus had a bike ride alongside the river after church which is nice to be able to do in December. So guess I got my Joy fix after all. :)

I like the conjecture of smoothing out the ills ... a rocky matter to those stoic about passing through, over, under or whatever thyed like to avoid ... stoically in the rye ...

The investiture of word is never deeply investigated enough due to the mystery factor ...

Thus word remains virtual unknown ... an intense vacancy? Devos? Some are devoted t' wit ... clowning with abstract! Even the CEO's would exterminate and deny it as portion of the function of un-read ... thus green tweitz ...

Quite enjoyed church this afternoon. It was our Christmas service. We had a small choir - including Yobo and myself - sing "The Little Drummer Boy." The praise music was also good. Since our pastor was away on a family emergency, I preached from Philippians 2:5-16. At offering time, we also took up a special benevolent offering. After the service we had a lunch and that was to be followed with a gift exchange. There's no place better to be at Christmastime than church.

A nice service today. Children's choir did several pieces and then the sermon was by Rev. Don McLeod. Sermon was about the different approaches we can have to living our lives. He placed the Rolling Stones song, Can't Get No Satisfaction in juxtaposition with the Beatles song, Let It Be. The idea of do we follow the ego or do we follow the spirit. Closing hymn was Let It Be. Not feeling real Christmasy this year so not sure if I will go to the Christmas Eve service tomorrow. Have to work tomorrow too, so will depend how tired I am after work, may just go home and take it easy. Did get in a December bike ride today and that was fun even if a bit on the chilly side.

"Like" for the message idea and the bike ride."

It is against human nature to let things be ... thus church beadles ... and beaded pryers ... with priors?

Minister spoke on marriage breakups ... and the commonality of mixed families ... to math ch up with Joe's confusion over a young girl as conceived in the myth ... the Dream Maker's Aspiration ... like Luther's dream of Glory?

We sang Alleluyah ... excellcious lyres? Heavenly fallacy ... great splash ... in the arid zone of some minds ... some things are sante ... healthy alterations to the irrational?

Corking goes on ...

Has your church opened a microbrewery in the Narthex, Luce?

It always seems there is something brewing there ... bad and good conflicting over change and improvement over the cognate of what it is ... many do not to wish to know much of what happens!

Then there is that 3-part item supporting the forth ... the general unknown ... the overwhelming power that causes loss of illumination! OBi literature, or obliterates?

If you are ever in B.C. worth trying some wine from the Blasted Church winery. It is fruity and quite pleasant, a good "brewing there" or fermenting there. ;)

Imagine sheep with airs and jumping over the Moen to escape taps and rest ... High Flight gets deeper ... the penne is like that ... sharp penetrating probes ...

While in pokey mode use care ... thus the ANis in the Hebrew scheme ... a darker change in ambiguity to create alternates? Enough is enough said the lady in Shue mode ... for when she got to your core!

Bottom line is en dless ... the DLL essence ... when something is lost ... and you are not to speak of it ... codes? Some scholars of literature say it is simply out there as a Great Code ... the endless story ... dragon on ...

Some get stuck at one SET ... as end of Job ... Yet Heh goes on ...

"Blasted church winery" is ok but you can attend a worship service at the real 'Blasted Church". When it was moved from Fairview BC to OK Falls, first the windows and pews were removed. Then dynamite loosened all the nails. The church was taken apart and rebuilt. True story and where the winery took it's name. Okanagan Falls United Church

This is making me think about how much I'd like to drive across Canada again, more slowly this time...although I'd have to stop in to see Sarah and Violet instead of Crazyheart, *sigh*

Church this Sunday is a carol service, led by the Worship Team Chair. Simple, sorta boring if you don't love singing Christmas carols. I'm projecting, which at least requires some attention, so I will probably enjoy myself. Young Spencer, grand of an old friend of the congregation's, and mine, is looking after sound for us, so I don't even have to worry about that, or lights; he's just a lovely kid, home from University for the holidays, and we were reminiscing, when we worked together Christmas Eve, that he was probably the "real baby Jesus" in the live pageant we have annually, some 19 years ago, when I had just joined the congregation...

Tomorrow is our music director's last day with the congregation. There have been hints of a few musical surprises. . . And there is sure to be cake. It would shock me quite a bit if it turned out to be fruitcake.

I always like the Sunday after Christmas service. Every year, it reminds me that the secular world has moved on from Christmas but we are still observing it in our hearts.
