My favourite kind of conversation Pinga! I hope to have a few in the upcoming week when I meet up with friends and family at my son's wedding.

@DaisyJane, I believe I am hearing your voice (through a letter) on CBC’s White coat, Black art. I listened to the forum as a podcast and would be interested in hearing your thoughts on it. (Hope I am correct here!)

Home now for a couplle of days and getting settled back into routines. Got groceries, went to doctor's office for my B12 shot, and to dentist for a final fitting of my new teeth - for the first time since my 20s I now have a full set of teeth although only seven are not from the store. I even got to my book club meeting - the last of the season. It's good to be home.

But we also enjoyed our first experience of house-sitting. It seemed strange at first, opening someone else's cupboards and using her pots and dishes, and salt and pepper; using up perishables from her fridge - but she had everything well labelled, space cleared out for our things, and a quick run-through when we arrived. Plus helppful advice about what to do - walking trails, restaurants, location of church. Thank you MrsAnteater.

I think Seelerman will keep his name on my computer. I doubt if he will use his Seeker account much other than to check in while I'm on the big computer.

Quite possible! She's away at the moment, so you may have to wait a bit for reply ... just wanted to let you know.

Somebody was telling me recently that there's a whole on-line community of volunteer house/pet sitters - doing just as you have done. People who actually travel the world doing such deeds :-) Seems interesting!

We've sort of looked at that. There are websites/organizations where you can list your house or yourself to either look for or be a house sitter. You have to jump through some security hoops and meet some standards. It's kind of like air bnb I think. We have friends who have friends who have saved a lot of money travelling that way. It looks pretty cool.

One of my favourite scenes in “ Tom Sawyer” is , when he is punished to paint the fence, and manages to make other kids pay him to be allowed to do it. Tells us that what we perceive as “ work” is relative.

Sort of like the punch of Judi'n ... and hollow outcomes due to the grace of lack of something other ... thus few gather anything from it ... it could come back at ya'! The Nordic's say Ja' and thus that cool goddess over ... that can send chills up a spine ... settling heated brae' NDs!

One must believe in essential oils like sesame ... when open from the husk ... husky voices in the night? Sucker BUSS adverse to the incubus ... then everything went black ... mire th like abstraction ...

Mrs.Anteater - ha ha! Who got the better deal? Who cares? Actually you took the greater risk, letting people you only met once over dinner years ago have access to your home, use your possessions and care for your cat. How did you know that we wouldn't throw wild parties, wreck the house, and neglect the cat (or worse)?
I think we can get some idea of a person's character if we pay attention to their posts over a period of years.

Money? Should I have charged seeler for using my house or should she have charged me for seelerman entertaining my cat?
No - if you're asking about the online house/pet sitting thing - I believe the person with the house pays a fee to list their house; or possibly all pay a fee to be registered with the community - but no cost or payment for the actual use of the home or service provided while there.

We've had friends/relatives house-sit/pet sit for us in the past - an opportunity for them & a favour to us. Win-win. No cash.

Absolutely.
I have to admit that I hid away my favorite cups, which I would be mad if they broke, so I thought it is always better, its me who brakes them. Other than that, there isn’t much value besides the cat- and she was at risk of being abducted to New Brunswick.
But, I would have applied to WC2 to have seeler be banned for bad behaviour until she returns the cat. So, again, no risk there.
With regards to wild parties- my 87 year old neighbours would have had an eye on you and party along. They always go to bed by 2 pm. They said you behaved.

If Seeler decides to throw a wild party I just might need to make that trip out to observe it!

Oh, I meant the neighbours go to bed by 2 am. So they really had an eye on seeler.
