We tried Apache again a few years back - didn't find it memorable at this point, but to each his own. Locally we have The Works which makes great burgers, but it is rather expensive so we usually just go when a 2 for 1 coupon shows up in our mailbox.

Some mucky weather out there. Looks like primarily sleet so far. No ice showing on the trees. Slippery out for walking/driving, though.

Hmm... it does seem to get mixed reviews. Here are a couple...

"Visited the Apache tonight and got an Apache burger which includes 2 patties double cheese plus the bacon as extra and the poutine...simply amazing, nothing could have hit the spot better than that. Apache is the best."

"...The onion rings were 99% breading - only 2 of them had onions in them. No joke. Battered and nasty. Since I had already paid I could not get out of this. Took a bite of the burger and left it, the onion rings and the tray. Walked out never to return."

An absolutely delicious burger that I'd recommend to anyone is the Dannyburger. It's available only at The Big D drive-in restaurant in Bathurst, NB.

same here for the time being ... so I'm staying in, finishing my income taxes, and baking bread!

Thin skin of ice in London but doesn't seem to be getting worse. Last blast of precip, as you both said, was more sleet than freezing rain. Still glad I don't have anywhere to go this afternoon. And I'm juicing up both cell phones just in case. We're on VOIP so if power goes, cell is our backup communications.

It's like spring out there today. The car says it is 9 degrees. Things are melting and we saw motorcycles. My beloved said it is supposed to snow tomorrow and Monday. Bless his heart.

I fondly remember burgers from years ago, from Burger Chef. No one else ever came close.

My favourite burgers are the ones I make from a mixture of lean and medium ground beef (plus secret seasonings, lol) and barbeque on my ancient charcoal bbq. On a particularly good day, I also make the buns.

Yep, really, nothing beats homemade. My mom makes great ones too. Course, everything she makes is superb.

I love homemade but haven't done them in eons. Since Little M left, we don't even eat them at home anymore since Mrs M isn't really interested in them.

They're a bit of a staple of my summer diet, I fear. You can cook 'em outside without heating up the house. I'll have the kids up, bbq half a dozen, then have some leftovers in the fridge to warm up.

It's heartwarming that you love your mother's cooking, Jae. Apparently, my kids (and some of my non-kids who ate here a LOT, like E's childhood friend and co-yoga teacher) are fond of my cooking, too. The old guy likes my cooking, as well. Except for the curry; he just didn't grow up with that, and can't really get his palate around the flavour combos.

We have other things we do on the BBQ in summer. Pork chops marinaded in a souvlaki marinade, Oktoberfest sausages.

We have amazing barbqs here in the summertime. Yobo cooks up all kinds of yummy Korean treats. To my taste, nothing beats Korean barbq.

Haven't changed much, at least in recent years. Used to be my favorite fast food burgers but Five Guys and South Side have kind of pushed them down the list, though they are harder to find still.
The bowls are fairly new. Last year I thought, no?

Seelerman and I occasionally buy the fixings to make our own burgers. Big, juicy patty of ground beef, cheese (sliced thin or shredded from a block of cheddar), tomato slices, lettuce, relish and aa slice of onion (if we aren't going out around others)). Served with a salad it makes a meal. We like it better, and think it may be a healthier choice, and cheaper, than eating out. But it is more work.
