 I love Mastermind. For all the reasons you've listed above but also because they don't separate toys by "boys" and "girls". All toys for all kids, I say!

Toi*les for confused sects ... not yet differentiated? There's AJ ob ... extended chaos ...

Even those of us who tried really hard often got stuck in gender traps. Occurs to me now that I never bought Lego for my daughter, who ended up in Civil Engineering, but I did for my son, who is quite artistically-inclined.

Tinker Toys worked for sticking tode wheel like items in mine-hole ... some German called it Mine Camp ef he retreats into it ... a bunker under de arth? Follows ...

The gender thing as frequently applied to children is getting pretty stale for me. We tried to treat our children in fair an equal ways - but still got caught on gender expectations occasionally. They basically chose their own clothes and the colours thereof (cost decided by an adult!). Toys were for general usage - no reason for girls to avoid construction toys, or boys to avoid dolls. As parents we openly acknowledged that ALL kids should experience a wide range of activities - including household skills and basic tool usage. Once they hit the school system though the more general stereotyping got to them quite quickly.

I have delighted in watching one of my grandboys making his way through the growing up process. He is confident about what he enjoys and seems immune to the inevitable teasing. In grade 4 he made himself a sweatshirt that was much admired at school. Someone asked 'Where did you get it?'
He replied 'I made it'.
"Boys don't sew".
"This one does. I've got my own sewing machine".

At various times he has coloured his hair - once in bright pink. He has also shaved it off, and grown it long enough for a single braid. He enjoys photography, loathes rough sports (he is Sports Videographer for his school teams), likes to hike, camp, read, experiment with art and cook.

The sad part about this is that his mum has been criticised for letting him, do such things - because (the lady said) you will turn him into a queer. Old ideas take so long to get overturned!

Imagine sailmakers without bios about going off somewhere with a fabric ...

I need a comfortable room to sit in for awhile. Life is busy-on the verge of overwhelming. I'll sit by the fire and drink some tea and feel restored.

Thus the great silent void, a rest from what we experience during the Dei ... if not blinded!

Some are schizoid ... their OI smeared with dirt they should be cautious of ... then the light of imagined idea-R's wash the eye'sol!

Some don't believe a soul can see ... tis inner vision! Life can terrorize ... look at the great fears of leaders ... psychosis in the extreme (politic'n)? is like a polar position ...

If it won't bother anyone I'll potter around quietly in the kitchen. I have an urge to bake - Chelsea buns first because my mouth waters at the mere thought! Maybe some ham and cheese scones too. Let me know if there is anything you fancy and I'll try to whip it up. I turned on the coffee and the kettle is hot if anyone fancies tea. This room can supply whatever variety you want .

I like your cravings Kay!! The kitchen is always open - and treats are delicious AND calorie free!!

A ham and cheese scone thick with butter... and a cup of black tea with sugar. Because black tea can be caffeine free in the Room.

I would love a scone and coffee with one cream please. Here is a bowl of fruit.

bananas, oranges, grapes and apples.

I think I must be immune to black tea's caffeine. I can't touch coffee after 12:00 noon without disturbing my night's sleep, but I can drink Tetley's with a squeeze of lemon right up until bedtime with no ill effect.

I am very grateful for health and sunshine today. I sit quietly with those who are short of either.

*Bette adds some cranberry orange sourdough scones to the heaped platters of calorie-less, perfect bake goods, and picks up a cuppa tea in a china mug from the eternally full, perfectly brewed pot.*

I was worried for a while that I was starting to react more to caffeine. Had sleeping problems that seemed to coincide with an uptick in my tea intake. However, that does not seem to be the case as I am sleeping better with only a slight reduction in black tea consumption. Still, I try to stick to greens or oolongs after lunch and herbals in the evening but I'll still have a black tea with dessert at times.
