Room For All

Welcome to Wondercafe2!

A community where we discuss, share, and have some fun together. Join today and become a part of it!

My husband and I do that way too often...busy communicating and doing what needs to be done, but then forgetting something also important. It becomes testy sometimes!

Chemgal is lucky you were available!
I'm heading outside to get the canoes ready for a paddle. I have them locked now-I'm hoping I can find the keys.
The Challenge race (formerly Ironman) is a time for increased canoe and kayak theft in town. I had my trailer parked at the lake while we were paddling for the swimmers. I had locked the canoes we weren't using onto the trailer)

Chemguy is very lucky and he's pushing it a bit. A lack of planning when he has professional development stuff all weekend. When we make plans that I'm just driving him to the LRT he needs to ensure these places are within walking distance! A few other things to get on my nerves this morning as well, but at least I have the car. I think I'm finally feeling up to things again. I got to bed early, and my last dose seems to have kicked in, I should have just taken an extra one this week, I think things were just running a little low without giving me an actual attack.

He'll make up for it later I'm sure. He can just act like a bit of a jerk when he's feeling a bit sheepish about something, it's his slightly odd way of dealing with it.

Enjoy your paddle Tabitha!

I found all the keys and trailer hitch is in place, trailer hooked up. paddles and safey gear packed. I just need to move 1 canoe from rack to trailer-as soon as either an adult walks by or my 19 year old wakes up.
Yes to Chemgal-marriages take some effort and realizing one actions impacts other. Glad you have some energy-do something you love.

How come, @Tabitha, re: increased canoe and kayak theft in town during The Challenge race?

There has been a tragic death in my church family. Early this morning, our Worship & Youth Pastor and a couple of his friends climbed an abandoned building here in Etobicoke. As he was either on or nearing the roof, the pastor's hand hit an exposed electrical wire, electrocuting him. By the time the paramedics reached the scene, no vital signs were showing. His passing is a real loss for our church. He was so talented and gifted in leading ministry. Please pray for his family, friends, and our faith community.

@Pr. Jae I am so sorry to hear this. How old was he? He is not only a loss to your church but a loss
to his family. I am sure his youth group will need pastoral care in the coming weeks. Blessings to all.

Thank you crazyheart. He was only 30. That's one of the reasons his death is so sad. Just last week he was playing guitar and singing and leading us all in morning worship, and he led the infant dedication for his newly born nephew. A couple of friends and I are going to go see his parents today, who are at our senior pastor's home (my friend called and asked first). You're right, the youth will need care. The children too, as he was also a Sunday School teacher. Their family is a very close one and will feel his loss deeply.

Oh my goodness, Jae. What a tragic accident. Who would have thought . . .

So sorry for this huge loss to your church . . . thinking of his family and what they are going through and facing this day.

That sounds like quite a loss, Jae. Every church I've been involved with has had someone like that and losing them for any reason leaves a big hole. Something like this makes it all the worse. My thoughts to your congregation, his family, and to you, since as an intern pastor there this must have a big effect on you personally. Take care.

Sorry to hear about this death jae - sad time for many. No doubt many questions will be raised privately & publicly re the activities that lead to this tragedy - that will be very hard for everyone involved. Heartfelt prayers for all.

Thank you all.The youth group, including the Youth Pastor's sister, plus a few of us older folks, got together at the Senior Pastor's house today. It was a time for prayer, conversation, and comforting each other. We decided that for tomorrow's service we will have music videos, prayer, Bible readings, and communion. Afterwards we'll serve a snack in the fellowship hall, so people can talk and mourn together.

thankful for community to come together for each other and family. Hard to experience such loss Jae. Take care.

I am headed to US, hopeful to have a new person start this week. Hopefully to deal with an hour issue. Hopefully to have dinner with frirnds.

I would rather be home. Attended a cute shower today for a young woman overwhelmed in a nice way. Wedding is in two weeks

Is this what the family wanted?

Do you mean the service crazyheart? I don't know for sure. Our Senior Pastor visited with them yesterday morning, so they may have discussed things at that time. Today wasn't the memorial service - that will come some time later this week.

At the end of worship this morning I made the following announcement.
"It is with some sadness that I inform you, the congregation of Central Westside United Church that I have made the request of the Settlement and Pastoral Relations Committee of Toronto Conference for a change of pastoral relations in order to retire not later that August 1, 2015.
I have made this request and am stepping aside from the pulpit at Central Westside so that you may continue as a congregation ...to do the necessary work of mission articulation, which you recently began.
I am sure you have many questions, the answers to which will come in time. Northern Waters Presbytery will be contacting the Church Council in the very near future of offer guidance in regard to next steps. Council will keep you informed.
Go in peace."

I think this is DKS from WonderCafe. Good Luck if it is.

That is DKS, CH. Sounds like he's moving into a new stage of life and ministry as is the congregation.

And if he resembles a lot of the UCC clergy I know, his heart won't let him fully retire and he'll wander around for years doing 1/4 time type and "resident retired" type stuff and special projects, etc...

But whichever type of retirement he chooses, hope it will be a stepping stone to a new and fun and wise stage of life.

Edited to say, shouldn't there be some sort of prize for having the 1000th post in the new Room for All?
