"Be careful that this is not harmful to weak Christians, as you can do whatever you want. Weak Christians can see that they eat food in worship where they have given it to false gods. He will eat it as he has seen you eat it. You can make a weak Christian fall into sin with what you have done. Remember, he is a Christian brother who Christ died. If we sin with a weak Christian, we will sin against Christ. I will never eat it again because the Christian brothers travel and fall when they eat meat. I do not want to sin my Christian"

Strong Christians are corrupt ... look what the Romans did with their militancy ... to the lesser traditions ... thus partisan religious ide-ars in myth ... what's an ars?

Amen Unsafe :3
Christians can have a blast at Halloween
Which I see as an opportunity for everyone to dress up
Pretend for a bit to be someone or something else
Walk under the stars
Fireworks
Drink drinks
Eat foods
Celebrate
Laugh
Share stories
Tell scary stories around campfires
Go into haunted houses to experience Life more, have a thrill
As a Christian listen to people, offer help if need be, offer one's life if needed...soup kitchens...food banks...moving...grieving...leaving...welcoming...so many opportunities during Halloween 4 us Christians to ENGAGE with life...
Because it is easy to get used to life, the same old same old...stare at a point long enough and that point will vanish...because nothing has changed...

Sharing in the common human experience is GOOD

Hi,
Can Halloween be divided up like that though. Or is it that by participating in any aspect of Halloween you are in effect participating in it all.
A little like noticing the pleasure folk get from eating at MacDonald's. Most unaware that, consuming MacDonald's fare, they participate in the propagation of diverse health risks. How is it our democratic society permits the sale of hazardous foods to children? Why are religious leaders not expressing concern in the public square.

Halloween ranks very low on the priority pole for most in the present age.

Dante's face lifting cover-up goes on eternally ... once out there it's gone ...

Hi,

Food and fu'd ... the concept of ingestion of healthy diets .. corrupted by industrial need to cheapen and raise prophets of calm hearse ... and coming rest from the Wiki'd'Ness of life and screwing about in God's prototype ... a labor a' tory 've man kind deficient in mine 'd?

Wiki as a source Eire Ur of information is downplayed by fixed institutions ... points myst ... nucleation of reins ...

Rest assured airclean33 I read all of 1 Corinthians 8 when I reccommended it to Jae for some instruction on the matter at hand.

1 Corinthians 8: 9-13 does not render 1 Corinthians 8: 1-8 null or void. It simply means that there are some things to think of when deciding the what and how of celebration.

With respect to Hallowe'en, unless you are invited to actually participate in the darker pagan rituals most of the contemporary celebration of the holiday is commercialism and not pagan spirituality.
--Hi Rev John--As a Minister of GOD. These are your thoughts . That's fine, but they are not mine . I celebrate those of GOD. My children have been shown . What they allow my Grandchildren to do is up to them. airclean33.

It allows people to fish around where they shouldn't and have a hell ova good time while dancing in heaven as long as they don't mind the produced consequences ... in ancient days the produce was village owned ... they were more socially inclined than those wishing to be CEO's ... industrialized moguls? Fati and resplendent ... ripe for picking?

Maybe we read into the tree myth wrong ...

Why god made monkeys first the best to be consumed is on the top .. from there the Top Guns failed ... tis canon ... fixed!

I don't make a big thing out of Halloween. Same goes for the other commercially driven occasions like St Patrick's day, Valentines day etc.. Not being a total Grinch I participate according to my understanding. I don't think it is totally evil. I don't think that wasting the world's resources on unnecessary sweet treats is helpful on any level. When kiddos arrive at my door (usually not many) I chat with them about their clothing in a friendly way and hand them a brand new shiney tooney. I also offer them a soul cake - adults generally seem to fear a bit of home made baking more than any wandering unattached spirits!

So many people do not understand the connection of Valentinus to religion and heresy ... especially when love was involved when the Vatican was backing the emperor's wars and assertiveness ... reminds me of some pushy missal handlers ...

Last week I wore an old grey shrod that I made for my son's costume years ago to the square dancing. About half of us had costumes - mostly made of recycled materials from home. Looking around the room during the evening it seemed to me that those in costume had the most fun.
A few days ago I saw a picture of my grandson dressed like a musician - somebody called Slash??? He looked cute holding his guitar in the picture - but he won't take his guitar with him when he goes out with his freinds 'trick or treating' - probably his last year. He is 13 and has shot up to taller than me over the summer.
This afternoon Seelerman and I bought a box of mini chocolate bars and a box of 'cheesies'. We'll give them out to the 20 or so kids we are expecting.
That's the extent of our Halloween.
No big deal.

But I loved it when I was young - and again when our kids were little.

It is not celebrating the fact that they are dead, which is what "celebrating death" would mean. It is celebrating the fact that our ancestors are present and among us on that night. Much like Chinese people bowing to their ancestors and cleaning up their graves (which many still do, even many Christian ones).
