Every time people try to "expose me to alternate viewpoints" you're assuming I haven't already heard them a million times, but have already made up my mind.

Ad hominem, Bette. Please stick to impersonal arguments about the topic.Kimmio, calm down. No-one is trying to hurt your feelings. We're trying to, same way as 'we' would, for instance, do the same thing for unsafe, point out where you're off in left field and maybe need a bit of factual help.
Donald Trump is divisive exactly because he appeals to emotion, at a very visceral level. You appear to be particularly responsive to visceral emotion, and several people, who are, maybe, calmer by nature, have been trying to expose you to alternate viewpoints. You are apparently pretty upset by these efforts. Possibly a downside of being a Jungian F rather than T.
Ad hominem, Bette. Please stick to impersonal arguments about the topic.
I'm surprized the Onion still exists as the world is bizarre enuf now
Not to mention incredibly dullKimmio, I do not feel alienated. I don't agree with you on the issue of free speech. All people disagree with each other on lots of matters. I don't feel alienated. Nor should you.
It's in the nature of such posts that we disagree with each other. If we all agreed with each other, there'd be no reason to exchange these notes.
Lol its Mainstream now lolI have an overwhelming influx of crap on my various media inputs displaying that yet another person has mistaken satire for reality. Much as I love "this is not that" on CBC, I fear it's a dreadful culprit. But The Onion, The Beaverton, and even This Hour has 22 Minutes are all too commonly unrecognized as satire.

The whole thing about me being over-emotional while others are rational is a trolling rouse started a long time ago that has hung around as a basis for people's arguments against my point of view on heavy topics. It's another ad hominem, Bette. People are not entitled to that just because. A lot of people do it to me here, it's been going on a long time, and it's not a fact that I am more viscerally emotional than everybody else. Stop.Kimmio, the topic is FEELINGS about the U.S political situation. If you can't discuss your FEELINGS without getting upset, perhaps you should not hang out on this thread which has FEELINGS in the title.
I FEEL frightened by the U.S. political situation. But frankly, I also feel almost equally frightened by people who are swayed by emotion and dissension into a place where they are wildly "tribal", in that they aren't willing to look at other viewpoints. I mean, Kimmio, FFS. Inanna is merely trying to point out that there's a huge portion of the population who 'gets' Trump in a way you don't, and I don't, either. But you can't just DISMISS the FEELINGS of a large portion of Americans, even if you'd like to.
Reported for name calling. Stop. Also, if we all agreed on everything, internet forums would never have been born, or would had ceased to exist.
I absolutely get that you have some innate credibility, kimmio, on some issues related to adult, non-intellectually disabled, "differing abilities". That does not give you a pass to act like an idiot on any and all topics as the spirit wills you. I do not feel alienated from you, either, as a human being. I think you're acting badly, as we have all done in the past.
Thatz a brilliant bit of wordsKimmio, you need to read Jonathan Swift's "A Modest Proposal". If you can't manage a bit of intellectually interactive give and take, you need a break.
You just can't stop the ad hominems from coming Bette. Who's acting badly?Kimmio, you need to read Jonathan Swift's "A Modest Proposal". If you can't manage a bit of intellectually interactive give and take, you need a break.

NO LUCY NO!!!Alright, if a little black animal with a funny waddle and a white stripe down its back walks through my backyard tonight, I'm gonna convince Lucy it isn't a skunk that she could attack and get smelly. Wish me luck!
