For me, church isn't about the presence of God or Spirit or whatever. It is about a gathering with spiritual purpose. It is the gathering and purpose that make it holy. A casino wouldn't qualify because anything spiritual that happens there is going to be coincidental, not purposeful. Mystic didn't go there seeking spiritual connection, he found it by happenstance (or perhaps by the guidance of the Spirit).

The UCCanada has organized gatherings in which people come together to corporately worship God. And that, crazyheart, is what we call church. The Spirit moves inside and outside of such gatherings.

Where two or more are gathered in name of God the Church is present. On a hillside. By a lake shore. In the marketplace. Anywhere at all.
