There is lots and lots of snow here in Scarborough so I didn't venture out to church this morning.Nancy - what an amazing photo!! that is a LOT of snow!!! Glad you have a good snowblower. We'er getting some snow here today -just the pretty fluffy postcard type - and I think not likely in huge quantities, which is okay with me!
In my experience, it is relatively easy to broaden our view and look to our churches' neighbouring communities. I have seen teams go out to interview key people in the surrounding community - MPP's, police, school principals and so on. It's not difficult to identify the needs that exist and to increase our awareness of what is around us.Had a Presbytery workshop Sat morning with people from EDGE - it was good. My presb obtained some grant funding to support many of our churches to do IMNA (Identity Mission Needs Analysis), and community round tables. We also got property scans for every church in the presbytery, and we will soon receive representative data from Environics - so lots going on for people to wrap their heads around.
One important piece I took away from it, was the descriptors of 'problems' - that the current situation facing churches is highly complex (differs from 'complicated') and that too often we rush to action to simple or technical solutions - which of course 'don't work' as we though they might.
me neither P3 - it was a good day to stay in & admire the beauty outside! There is lots and lots of snow here in Scarborough so I didn't venture out to church this morning.
