Happy Friday and start of the weekend for those who work Monday to Friday.
I ended up stormbound in Chicago last night, and so didn't get home until lunch today. Had a delightful later afternoon visit with my oldest son, and now relaxing before heading to games night and the storm.

Funny story I heard at work.
99 year old Mary ( not her real name) was admitted because she can't cope home alone. Neighbour comes to visit her. Neighbour knows that Mary has been struggling for the past five years. Neighbour says to Mary:" Mary, you should really think about having someone move in with you."
Mary responds:" Oh, no, dear, I can't possibly take care of someone else. I am having a hard time taking care of myself the way it is."

Bitterly cold with strong winds in NB last night and today. Lost power in this part of the city at 7:00 am (Just as Seelerman was aboout to make toast and I was ready to crawl out of bed. By the time the sun was up and it was light enough to get around and I got up the house was getting cold -- and no coffee.
Brunch at McDonalds at the mall. Returned home - house colder and Seelerman worried about our hot-water heating pipes - would they freeze. But a couple of NB Power trucks went by and stopped down the street. Looks like they are onto it. Went bowling.
Home by 4:00 pm - power on. House at 15 degrees and the radiators humming.
Saved by the linemen. Thanks for all thosee who work outside in all kinds of weather to keep us comfortable.

Dear Jae, I really feel sorry for you, because you either try to be funny but aren't and don't get it, or you really mean it, and that's even sader.
I feel sad for you, expecting us to get a chuckle out of the plight of poor Mary. Really, really sad Mrs. A. Have you ever been lonely Mrs. A.? Have you ever felt like you had not a friend in the world? I have, and it's no laughing matter. I feel sorry for you, trying to get us to laugh at the misery of another human being.

Why would you assume that Mary was lonely? If you live alone up to 99 yrs of age, I tell you, you are likely not lonely and a very feisty character. You either have never met positive older people in your life or you tendency to see everything negative keeps playing tricks with you. This kind of judging others quickly and assuming stuff that hasn't been said is not a good trait in your line of work.

Who is quickly judging others and assuming stuff Mrs. A.? I never said that Mary is lonely. I said it's probable. What I've also said and maintain is that it's sad that you want us all to get a chuckle or two at a poor person who can't take care of herself.

Some people have broken "irony meters"... In the same vein, there's a lovely woman at my church, 85 I think now, busy with the Holy Rollers, member of the choir, always helping with special receptions/fundraisers, etc. She's always telling ME to slow down...
Enough what paradox3? I will ALWAYS speak against making fun of people who can't take care of themselves.
