Room For All

Welcome to Wondercafe2!

Fortunately, my critters are used to a degree of inconsistency in feeding times, so they wait pretty patiently. OTOH, use the word "walk" in the house and be prepared to be besieged by two large hounds until you are pulled out the door. They even understand "w" these days...

Wishing Ms. M the very happiest of birthdays, and many happy returns of the day. Confident that the monkey is being suitably adoring. And the same best wishes, to chemgal's nephew, although he will, as yet, have nothing to judge "happiest" against....

A busy day today..

I feel badly for those who are in shock that Trump was able to win, who now live in grief, and fear. may their fears be unfounded.

There were hugs in the circles that I was in, recognizing the grief they felt. Yes, I am a Canadian; hwoever, I met with an American today, and others who know how small our world can be.

I also had the opportunity to work with tech's in BC talking about a software purchase, work to source a resource for a project in the US, explore membership in Soroptomist, including a fun scrapbooking session, and also time with a gifted editor working on mission, vision & values for another org. Busy day, but, life-giving.

May everyone find a way to give back, as well as sit back.

Grieving for the US, grieving for the world - not since 9/11 have I felt such shock and fear for the future.
But life goes on. I spent Wednesdsy afternoon at the church working with a small group of low-income people assisting them to each make a casserole to take home for supper. One of the church volunteers had donated several baggies of frozen cooked turkey (left over from two turkeys). I adapted a recipe and showed them how to use leftover turkey, and a few other reasonably priced ingredient to make a good meal.
Lots of good fellowship - and no one mentioned the election.

Praying for the US, for the shalom of America. That nation is deeply divided. Praying that there will be peace, justice and understanding. Praying that followers of Christ will be missionally engaged in their communities, bringing healing, offering friendship, and sharing about the Kingdom of God.

Won't happen with divine polity ... some devilish under-work (partisan) must be encountered --- from some descended source I can't recall to deep in the pool of excessive words! Might 've been Hemmingway ... rings a bell! Midnight train coming as an alien thought?

Grandson wrote this poem for Remembrance Day when he was in grade two. His teacher saved a copy for herself and gave us the original because it was so special. It shows such insight to the sacrifice and tragedy of war.

The guns were shooting.
The tanks were shooting.
Think of all the things you can think of…
Helicopters, army tanks, guns
No one won,
Because we all lost soldiers.
Imagine if no one lost one single soldier.
How great is that?

Seelergirl's son
Age 7

He's twelve now and still a sensitive, insightful, spiritual, special boy. I'm proud of him.

We're getting a lot of pages in this thread. Is it possible to trim it or start a new one? Maybe it's not a big deal. I'm just in a clean-up kind of mood. (Which is dangerous, as I just broke our coffee maker while trying to clean it.)

Compared to Last Post? This one is short. Xenforo, our board software, seems very tolerant of long threads unlike some boards that have to cap and restart long threads (e.g. original WC, rpg.net forums) once they get over a thousand or so posts. So I'm not inclined to worry about doing anything with it. Makes it easier if someone wants to find something, too, since you can just open the thread and then use the "search this thread only" option in the search window.

I love that this thread is big and bulky and full. Like the kind of chair or cup of tea that I want to fall into at the end of the day.

Totally agree with you Hilary, but for me it's got a be coffee.

Tea, coffee, cocoa, rooibos, you name it. As long as it's hot and tasty, it'll do the job. :coffee:
