Words used that bug me

I think folks or folk is a church word ,too, kimmio.

I just remembered - the senior bicycle club in this city is called "Folks on Spokes". I suppose it has a nicer ring to it than "People pushing pedals" or "Seniors on Cycles".
I think it might be both generational and cultural - maybe it's used more in the East than elsewhere.

I blame the Germans for all their capitalization.

Also, it's a shame the awesome has had it's meaning dissolved to just "ok" or "good" instead of awe-some.

I have used many of these words...and will probably continue to do so.
They express a feeling at the time, are part of pop culture.

sometimes they carry a sense of fun with them.....
eg kewl <> cool ....kewl is much more cool than cool will ever be....or was much more, though now is boring.
awesome...in a chat window can be snarky....oh, that is so awesome that we just got a high ticket, or...awesome, as in thanks for getting that done.

I'm starting to say 'folks' a lot. It entered into my lexicon after attending church and being here and seeing/ hearing others using it a lot. It used to sound funny to me as term applied to people in general. I used to say just 'people'. So I think it's a Christian cultural thing. People who use the word folks...I might assume they picked it up in church, now. Before that, 'folks' was only a slang word for 'parents' (that was kind of outdated but still used once in awhile). So, we pick up words and expressions from exposure and after awhile they just sound 'normal' to us.

Hate to tell you - Rob Ford says "Folks" a lot ...

can't stand the use of "irregardless" - it's common, but not proper English - the prefix "ir" meaning not - as in "irrelevant" AND the suffix "less" meaning not ... so both are not necessary. Better to use "regardless"
