They are just words @ChemGal ... they do not belong to anyone ... you call it stealing ... I call it sharing.

actually, attribution, is practical agape -- with attribution, you show that you care for the writer and do what they want you to do instead of your own selfish wants -- i know you get miffed when gov'ts and orgs tell you what to do and think

its also polite

and helps in your communication -- your readers might want to check out for themselves the bits that you quote

and its also part of the agreement you made when you joined this board -- there are standards here, social norms that we all agree to when we make an account

and it really, i think, is laziness on your part to just cut n paste someone else's work o_O

(i do hope you can take the previous without becoming too defensive for an extended period of time...)

i recall the time an acquaintance of mine was invited by a Chinese SF mag to a talk.,.so he visited, gave the talk, and they asked for a story...he gave them one and they were going to publish it; during the stage where he and they were working out the details (payment, copyright, etc etc), they said they expected it for free and to hold the copyright...good thing he was able to convince them to cancel the publication of his story

too bad you missed me on WC: Original Recipie -- I was riffing on being an Open Source Being and generally allowed anyone to think anything of me.

I wrote my blog today mostly on the Ukraine - but also on the lack of any moral code to control the excesses of our economic system. At the end, I wrote what I know is a true statement. Under the CSIS/"terrorist" bill now proposed by Harper, any sentence in my blog would get me listed as a suspected terrorist. (and none of it had anything to do with terrorism.) Once that's done, - just being suspected - I could be sent to jail with no charge and no trial. That's how far we're falling.

I also advised readers to check out a story about a talk given by Pope Francis. It's in Catholic News. It's a superb talk. But it's quite possible under our new gestapo bill that he, too, could be listed as a suspected terrorist.

and once its on the net, its a permanent part of humanity's memory *shudderjoy*

i'm just waiting for the time when, for national security, Canada becomes governed by the Current Occupant in Merryca...maybe they need a poutine false flag event? :sneaky:

The slender Rosedale resident with deep-set eyes who reads three newspapers before lunch is, from the comforts of his study, gathering evidence to challenge the Canadian government over its economic policies in court.
