And, well, he did play a major role in the Allies winning WWII, a leadership effort that probably made being POTUS look easy by comparison. I don't think Don's business experience is anywhere near to being in that league.

On the one hand, celebrating the 250th anniversary of the US Army makes certain amount of sense in that country. OTOH, for a country supposedly dealing with economic hardship to spend tens of millions (the last time this was discussed, the budget was estimated at US$92m) on a freakin' parade is insanity. But that seems to be order of the day in Washington anymore.

And the kicker? The day of the Army anniversary is June 14, which also happens to be the birthday of the POTUS. So he gets a parade on his birthday but sufficient deniability if people start complaining about celebrating his birthday with a big, expensive parade.

Apparently, he has wanted to do something like this since being in Paris for Bastille Day back in his first term.
