With the man who had many demons on the beach? To My GOD I believe ,there is nothing He can't do. Please remember that as you" travel through life. He's referring to the ones who march outside abortion clinics and try to pass bathroom bills while treating poverty as the fault of the poor and supporting massive military expenditures over things like health care.

I am sure there are many fundamentalists who do not fit that stereotype, but a lot of the outspoken, publicly visible ones do.

I'd prefer if they spoke common sense and used real arguments. There are arguments against abortion and condoning homosexuality. I think they're weak arguments, but they exist. Fundamentalists typically derive their arguments not from science or medicine or economics, but from their interpretation of the bible. I can't think of any weaker argument than one from an old book, compiled, translated and edited to suit the powerful in their day, pretty much locked for the past few hundred years, unable to grow or evolve with new knowledge, if it ever did.

One could look at the story of the rich man and the beggar from a Christian point of view.


It actually doesn't matter what George thinks are the sins that we should focus on.
Jesus said that to hate was equivalent to murder.
To say, "you fool" is grounds for hell.

So we all have sin that make us hell worthy. This has to be recognized and then we need to focus on the cure. The reason fundamentalist Christians stand outside abortion clinics is because there is a good chance the person going in has been lied to and not really wanting to sin, compared to people who do it for a living.

We all have the disease and Jesus is the only cure. He is not bitter medicine.

Physician, heal thyself!

Infinite punishment for finite crimes is beyond stupid and is one more thing that erodes the credibility of Christians and highlights how their "loving" God is a monster. The good news, then, is that there is no reason to believe the monster is real. This is what we have to repeat to the people who would believe your hateful bulls**t. Recognition that you say these things on the back of no evidence or justifiable reason is the inoculation against this fearmongering belief.

Abortion protesters are the ones demonstrably lying to the people who would walk through those doors, each with a story that the protesters don't care about. Only an evil person would harass a person over the heaviest and most painful decision they've ever had to make. They aren't there to educate - they're there because they're swept up in the idea that abortion is murder because their God says so. They could stop more abortions by handing out condoms, but they don't, because they think they can stop people from having sex and God wants that, too. These are brainwashed members of an evil cult, and if they weren't actively slut-shaming people who are already hurting, I might feel empathy for them.

I wrote on the "How Fake News Spreads" thread about the conspiracy theory that Trump is really Andy Kauffman. Andy's still alive.

I wonder sometimes if airclean is a persona. Maybe he is also Andy Kauffman. I wonder? Maybe that's the key. When someone annoys you just think "It's just Andy Kauffman in character." And laugh it off.

Actually, I'm going to thank airclean for his last post. He gave up trying to use the quote function and just used "he/she post", "airclean post". It's much more readable.
