But, wait...isn't Assad a tyrant and didn't Assad start all this years ago, using chemical weapons on his own citizens? I remember years ago, Syrians begging for intervention. And didn't Obama try the same thing as Trump...but later decided to arm rebels, which became a horrific clustrfk that caused a mass exodus of refugees that nobody seems to have the capacity to handle, which has given rise to fear and racism-turned-white-nationalism-excuses, and unprecedented numbers of displaced, unwanted, people with nowhere to go?
I don't think this is a Trump plan/ decision, as much as it's a General Mattis decision. The war in Syria needs to end. It's not going to end by asking nicely...so what are the options?
After the catastrophe that was created they can't just abandon the Syrian people to their own devices. It's a bit late. And Putin's not a good guy, and Assad's not a good guy. Why does Putin side with him anyway?
