James Mutchmor was also, all things considered a very powerful influence and he, like Woodsworth was on hand at the Winnipeg General Strike.
Mutchmoor would serve on the Board of Evangelism and Social service from 1932 to 1963 and as Moderator from 1962 to 1964.
I am not sure when The United Church of Canada shuttered the Board of Evangelism and Social Service or what it's successor agencies might have been. Sometime in the early 70's I believe. The Church has not been the better because of it. I cannot speak from much first hand experience because I didn't come aboard until 1979. But the volumes of study documents put out by the Board of Evangelism and Social Service was quite copious.
And then there was Bob McClure.
A very different generation for the Church.
