In fact, is Trump conservative or liberal?
In the past, large numbers of Christian clergy have supported wars. In fact, they have supported wars, with rare exceptions almost constantly for the last 500 years. The support for war against Vietnam, Libya, Syria, Afghanistan, for the killing of perhaps 300,000 Guatemalan civilans...the widespread use of torture....for carpet bombing from WW2 on, for napalm.... i've heard little to no open discussion on any of these led by clergy. hitler had no trouble finding chaplains for his armies.
Where was the church debate on the conquest of Cuba and Haiti, and the imposing of dictatorships? Ditto for The Phillipines in the first half of the 29th century, and after WW2. Where is the church now that U.S. special ops have murdered a woman in South America (and scarcely the first one) for being environmentalist? And we sent chaplains with the Canadians who fought in the Boer War to help wealthy British steal gold mines. They were also present when over ten thousand Boers died in Candian-run concentratin camps.
And, while the churches offer some help to some of the world's millions of refugees, I have heard no criticism of the west for creating those refugees.
