TRUMP - Some people think......... How do you feel?

Kimmio, don't suppose there's any chance you've ever been on a debating team? As it should be structured, students are coached in how to present arguments from more than one side of an issue. If you can't argue your point well with an opponent, your opinion needs some thinking out.

And you can't, ever, just decide that if people don't agree with you, they should shut up. Life doesn't work that way; people keep talking. You need the right in order to have the left. There has to be a balance. You need to look at, and analyze history, before predicting into future.
We need to hear from the far right for there to be balance?!

If you start spending your time with digging out posts from three years ago, I recommend to stop and reflect if there isn’t something more pleasant to spend you lifetime on...

Define "far right". Because I find you tend to define it rather differently from the rest of us.

Do we need to hear from homophobes, racists, and other bigots? Nope. Do we need to hear from actual conservatives? Yes. The two are not synonymous.

I think there is always room for a voice that urges us to make careful use of resources, recognize the value of the private sector, and keep government involvement in our lives and in the private sector to those areas where it is necessary and minimally invasive.

That's the best of modern conservatism and I wish the GOP and our own CPC would recognize that and stop playing footsy with the religious right, white supremacists, and other groups whose agendas are often predicated on fear, hate, and control of The Other.

Should we mention to Comrade Trumpski that, if he didn't have the burden of pretending to be a president, he would have all that extra time to play golf? Maybe if he withdrew from the election, he'd be a happier person on the golf course?

Well, as has been stated, even Peter McKay sold out the cons here, down the alt right river. Harper was far right. He was a creeping fascist, and we shouldn’t forget it. So, no, it’s not a both sides need equal consideration issue.

My opinion is that Trudeau is now the right, the left is now the centre, and the far left is not as fringe as it use to be. Then there’s the fringe-fringe - those would be the black bloc types. The right of centre cannot be trusted to not be alt-right, so I’ve written them off. Why don’t people just admit the Liberals are actually on the right and start there. f*** the cons! I don’t think anybody actually needs to hear from them. We’ve heard enough. What they did to let the fundamentalists steer us toward the end of the world was a travesty.

I don’t think there are any conservatives who are not closet bigots...at the very least it’s just beneath their consciousness. They’re always ignorant about somebody “undeserving” of tax payer dollars that they act like is all out of their own pocket. And they are happy to continue the policies that keep systemic racism and other systemic inequality in place. So...their politics doesn’t even count to me.

Fiscal conservatism = systemic racism and sexism and ableism, etc. ...it’s systemic in the policies, that keep people marginalized while the wealthy conservatives keep more money. f*** em.

It's totally normal in a non-fascist country for federal law enforcement to tweet a link to its copy of a notorious & virulent anti-semitic propaganda work without any context for doing so, right?

The FBI Records Vault, an official FBI Twitter account
, on Wednesday afternoon tweeted a link to the bureau’s files on “The Protocols of the Elders of Zion,” the anti-Semitic work forged by the Czarist secret police in Russia that accuses Jews of striving for world domination.

Earlier today FOIA materials were posted to the FBI’s Vault and FOIA Twitter account via an automated process without further outlining the context of the documents. We regret that this release may have inadvertently caused distress among the communities we serve.

But they apologized so it's okay.

We all have a racist streak. It's important to recognize that so that we can change.

kimmio that was a statement that you have a racist streak

that you cannot understand that people can be conservative and believe in things that you find abhorrent is ridiculous

conservatives are not your enemy. They have a different view of how we should move ahead

currently Trudeau is loving the fact of handing out billions and getting lots of love. Less love when we start to pay for it

It was a statement that we all have a racist streak and that yes, that includes Kimmio.

That's a good point. It's hard to accept sometimes, but important to recognize in discussions.
It's easy just to say that. It might be true that we all have to pay attention to our tendency toward xenophobia and especially not let it dictate policy. We have to think of the marginalized first. The conservatives ARE the worst for that - their policies are systemically prejudiced.

Fiscal conservatism does create inequality by its nature. I'd rather have Trudeau blunder big on charity spending for a youth organization, than conservative fascist creeps al la Canadian Alliance set policy that will make the rich richer while they destroy the world and ensure that they're cushy on the way out - knowing that they always cut from the bottom, and fight tooth and nail against sound environmental policy to protect big oil, and the military industrial complex, and that enforces systemic racism. They don't have anything legitimate left to offer. Especially since letting ethnonationalists and theocrats influence their direction. If it pays off for them, they don't care. They haven't cared for years. They don't care that they are leaving a scorched earth for future generations. The conservatives are off the map. Trudeau is as right wing as I'm willing to consider legitimately. And I have issues with his government, too.

We all have racist streaks. WE need to address it in ourselves before we can effect any change.

The Liberals also have policies that feed systemic racism. Trudeau can try to convince us he's an ally. The way he responded to Jodi Wilson - Raybould disabused many of us of that myth. Blanket statements serve no useful purpose.
