I see a huge danger that if a system is going to be ripped down by destructive populist impulses - what will replace it will be just as bad or worse. That is what is brewing down south and in Europe. We should know better. And, we are a democracy - and we let the 1% gain power by buying into trickle down economics and electing people to pass laws like corporate personhood, and shaping the big money lobby (well, we don't have that so much here but we are affected by it coming from down south). But the thing with having a citizen run system is it gives a framework to begin to peacefully undo the laws that oppress people - and a peaceful means to challenge injustice. We are fortunate to have that. Our early ancestors didn't and neither do many in the world today."But ancient rulers were not democratic." Kimmio
Hi Kimmio,
You assume that we are a democracy. It is what we have heard from our infancy. All while the manipulators of commerce seduced a clear majority to abdicate the responsibilities of a citizen and "sign on" to the duties of production and consumption.
I admire your hope and your progress along the way of dialogue. We are not here to determine who is right and who is wrong. We are here to support and encourage one another in the maturation of character manifest as respectful truthfulness in word and deed. By this way we may discover who it is we each truly are and what we may truly accomplish. Always having in mind that one life lives in us all.
