As for my going to the churches ... there is something valid to respond to...
I am making progress and I am working with a pastor of a very large prominent baptist church to offer the evangelical community an opportunity to meet a trans person (me) and to discuss how it feels from both sides.
I expect this big event will take place in September. The influence of this church is such that the attendance should be very large and involve a large number of evangelical churches in the area. I am sure this is just a start.

That's great. I hope you let us know how this turns out. I see this as a big step for the churches to invite you rather than pretend you don't exist. There seems to be a desire to learn and understand. I hope that is the case. You are an excellent spokesperson for this.

Hello Jae .....
I am not going to reply to most of your comments because as usual there is no useful substance to them.
I am not going to play the shell game of comments with you. I am sure you are fully aware my comments are valid.
I am sorry but your proven game of obfuscation and then playing the martyr role has grown to weary for me to play.

No real answers then, eh RitaTG. Just unnecessary insults. Okay, I'm disappointed since I asked valid questions.

I will keep WonderCafe2 updated as the plans progress. Thank you for asking.

That will be interesting to hear about.

.

I hope and pray that this has the positive outcome that it should. You're the right person to be doing it, that's for sure.

Hi RitaTG - good to see you back, and hear that you continue to journey onward in a way that is tender & respectful of your vulnerabilities.

Congrats on the upcoming church event. I pray that a safe space will be created for you and others in attendance - sensitive management of comments and questions will be called for, IMO. It is a very courageous thing you are doing.

Jae - it would be most helpful if you post the reason you find articles interesting, what insight you may have gained from it & the reason you'd like to share it. Simply posting a link without context is not particularly helpful in discussion, as was pointed out recently to you in another thread.

So - what is it that you find interesting about the linked article you posted? How does it contribute to to this thread?

Thank you for your questions Carolla. As I've shared, this thread is on the subject of transgenderism, and the article is a story about a transgendered person - so I believe it fits this thread quite well. I suppose the thing that struck me most about the article was simply the fact that the parents were supportive of the transgendered boy, and yet he still did a suicide. This flies in the face of claims I have heard from some who say that it is the non-acceptance by the family which drives transgendered people to suicide. Does this suicide prove those people wrong, or is this the exception that proves the rule correct? The case certainly points out the danger of living in a place like the Bible belt where conformity is the name of the game. Some here would paint me as a person who would fit right in with the Bible belt. However, I would say that the old adage, "the proof of the pudding is in the eating" should be considered.

I will reserve comment for useful considered posts and I would encourage my fellow posters to do the same.
.................................................................................
For those that wish to pray for this endevour with this particular church............
Please pray that the event will be a safe space for those that have the courage to attend such an event.
Please pray that I will listen to each one and respond with gentleness and kindness.
My primary goal is to listen first..... to give others a chance to share what is in their hearts.
I am hoping to reach out by listening and giving them a chance to say their piece to a flesh and blood person.
I will only answer their questions ..... there will be no "presentation" by me.
This needs to be a heart to heart sharing and I plan to be the first to actually listen.
Please pray for that..... thank you

That's an excellent tip RitaTG. Here's another one - I will only comment on articles I have actually read and I encourage my fellow posters to do the same.

What church is involved?

Already shared information about the church Jae....
Please refer to earlier posts
Thank you

Yes RitaTG, you gave some information. You wrote, "...a very large prominent baptist church..." However, I am asking for the church name.
