Bobby Riggs had been one of the world's top tennis players in the 1940s. in 1973, he opined that the female game was inferior and that even at his current advanced age of 55 he could still beat any of the top female players.

In what was billed as "The Battle of the Sexes" the women's top=ranked player, Margaret Court, stepped in, accepting the guarantee of $20,000 for the match, more than she had earned for winning both the 1973 Australian and French Open women's singles titles. Televised by CBS, the match was held on Mother's Day in Ramona, California.before 5,000 spectators.

Riggs descended the stadium steps and presented Court with Mother's Day flowers, which she accepted while curtsying. The creaky kneed Riggs used his drop shots and lobs to keep Court off balance. His quick victory (6–2, 6–1) landed Riggs on the cover of both Sports Illustrated and Time Magazine. This match would thus be dubbed the "Mother's Day Massacre" due to the drubbing.

An aging Riggs would later be defeated by another top women's tennis player, Billy Jean King. But the fact that an aging male player who had been out of competitive tennis for about 30 years could easily defeat the t op ranked female player illustrated that the top female tennis players were not even close to being equal to the top male tennis players in their prime.

I remember

Caitlyn Marie Jenner (born William Bruce Jenner; October 28, 1949), formerly known as Bruce Jenner, is an American media personality and retired Olympic gold medal-winning decathlete.

The reality star - who previously told USA Today that she'd received 'more flak for being a conservative Republican than I have for being trans' - is arguably one of the most famous LGBTQ+ athletes, having won an Olympic gold medal in the decathlon at the height of her career.

Her celebrity status gives her an outsized voice. It’s a hasty generalization/ isolated example fallacy. But she’s got connections and money to push her opinion. Has every male to female transitioned professional athlete been consulted for their opinions? (If they are hard to find because there’s so very few then this is a mountain made of a molehill.) Trump Republicans have lost their minds. They are systematically attacking all minority rights.

Does provide opportunity for large mouths and such brutal mouthing ... ONE should write that down as you'd be criticized for saying anything against a bigmouth ... imagine Mystic behind the pulpit ... scary ... not spicy!

Thus the writ version spans space-time ... speaking from the darkness ... ink links? Extensive connections ... even sometimes in the heat of the night ... sparks?

When flint and satyr impress ... diabolical buried understandings unseen by the superficial powers ... "M" up there ...

<audience aside> we transwomen really thrive when we have a good pit crew. our transmission can get all hot and borked *waggles eyebrows*

enjoying this thread

Nicole Powers used to compete against women — but Powers came to the realization that it was unfair.

Powers is a transgender woman who has golfed against biological females.

Powers has also competed in many other sports.

“I had to take a step back and realize that biological realities are real and competitive advantages will always exist despite the number of years or whatever surgeries and hormones you’ve done, and then understood that my place is not in women’s sports,” Powers said in a recent interview with OutKick.

To argue that trans identifying as female in women's sports is a non issue, given that fewer than 1% of the population identify as trans women is ridiculous, IMO

If only 1% of women's sports competitors identify as trans women, but they beat 95% of biological women in physical competitions then surely that's even more concerning?

The smaller their minority the bigger the advantage when they're beating a large majority consistently.

All it takes is ONE transgender female to break a world record of ALL women.

Only about 1% of people are champion athletes too.

Right wingers didn't give a s**t about women's sports until they realized they could use it as a wedge issue.

I like sports. I like competition. My daughter competed in skiing at a decent level. I know of no trans women in competitive ski racing.

In the end, it's manufactured outrage over a thing that almost never happens, because they can get people worked up over a thing morons can puff their chests out over and declare they have common sense on their side.

On the other side, trans women should have a competitive outlet should they choose. But the best women in any sport will beat all but the top men in that sport, so any trans woman would have to be pretty darn good to compete. Add in the testosterone blockers and estrogen taken by most trans women, and the traditional male advantages shrink.

Maybe there are answers in testosterone testing. But I do know this is a tempest in a teapot that appeals to people who actively avoid the WNBA, women's soccer, hockey, etc. and have chosen this subject as their only real interest in women's athletics outside of beach volleyball.

We must treat everyone with respect, including transgender people. Sports must be about pushing limits, teamwork, and making sure everyone feels included. Let's all create spaces where everyone feels welcome and appreciated.

We must not forget what's most important. Sports help us all connect with each other. We must all try to find answers that are fair and inclusive

A giggle-worthy cliam of breath-taking ignorance!

You just need to read more American papers. This past year, the news here regularly featured news of women's college teams forfeiting games rather than have to compete against the other team's trans player.
66% 0f Americans oppose trans women in women's sports:

66% of US adults oppose transgender girls competing on female sports teams, new survey reveals

A solid majority of American adults believe transgender girls should not be allowed to compete on girls’ sports teams, with two-thirds saying it should be permitted “never” or &#8…

More importantly, the governing body of college athletics has changed their policy to crack down on trans athletes invading women's sporos:
"The NCAA has changed its participation policy for transgender athletes, limiting competition in women's sports to those assigned female at birth."

There are so many church "powers" that are ignorant to the idea of justice, mercy and humility ... even their writ wails of whining ... ectoplasm personified in the hole! Perhaps the wrong end of the colon ...

It hurts to hear you feel like church leaders are losing sight of mercy. I also long for the Church that puts mercy first.

The best part of what we're called to do is showing love in simple ways.

We're all just trying to be better people, like Christ, together. So, there's always hope. We should pray to overcome our flaws.

I hope we can find our way back to what matters most in our faith. Walk with me, and let's do this together. Real leadership is about serving others with a good heart

@ chansen:
  • "Nearly two-thirds of those watching NCAA women’s college basketball and FIFA women’s soccer are men. Half of WNBA viewers are men.
  • Half of NCAA women’s college basketball viewership are men 55 years of age and older, while one-third of WNBA and FIFA women’s soccer watchers are young adults under 35 years of age."

Yes, and as Caitlin herself argues as a trans, trans, it is unfair to allow trans women in women's sports.
Get where Caitlyn is coming from, and I respect what she's been through. But, I still think it's key to have places where everyone feels welcome and like they belong. Sports must be all about celebrating how different we all are and everyone's own story. It's not easy to be fair and inclusive, but it's a talk we must have, and we must do it with kindness and understanding

Why do you rage so? Is your internal fire lost control ... or do you have a paranoia about a power you never had and only believe you lost something that wasn't rightfully yours? What a co nun drum you are in ... yet the beat continues! Walking along paying no attention to nothing ... an elusive domain that baffles the best of the most rigid piety! Thus they come apart at the seams ... because they simply a a poorly built vessel ...

Is the diabolical part of God kind of a paradox that makes you remember things you fought to not remember ... a knotty situation in the log ... bump in epistemology of the humanoid tree? Then the phantoms of bad memories ... incarnating like conned science ... it comes up from time to time causing distraught to those that believe they are just right! When in virtue they are flawed also ... the reason for mortality in the great oversight ...

This is what defines lost souls ... remember what you purposely eliminated is like a kind of ectoplasm in the protoplasm ... a gap to be forded with a proper ferryman ... the lift is sort of satyr as we go from bad to worse when boosting love and desire exponentially .. love is a dangerous thing as you can observe in political science ... if one looks at it clearly! There is this eclipse thing ... can blacken the entire heavens ... right or wrong?

The abstract is the scattered parts as classically thought!

Maybe because of the consciousness of the excess test tossed terrain? Tore on the earth plateau that proved to be a turning point and spherical ... how the psyche works is alien to us because it is something that cultivates paranoia ... just the mention of mind research in a pious setting will send the willful on a tear for cover ... sheaves, or Jeeves in his jives? Shakey ... when you condemned something that you've done and tried to escape it ... a religious thing about it wasn't my responsibility ... ungodly perspective ... unbalanced!

The demos are at fault, they must be crazy ... as that Cline woman spoke of love and its deficiencies ... steady as it goes? No likely ... it flutters ... resemblinf my feelings about folk without feeling (empathy) and do not understand the word! It could be said to be beyond them but simply belayed ...

Gentile now with that belaying pin ...
