See, the wyrd thing is that I am not interested in a bad end of life. My children are long grown, it looks very unlikely that I will see grandchildren, my parents are decently buried. Would I go to any great extents to live longer for anyone else at the expense of significant quality of life?
I appear to be healthy enough at present, although my doc and I are investigating a significant weight loss recently (we're hoping it's just love, LOL). I know what diagnoses I am likely to receive over the next decade, and I have pretty clear ideas of how I will react to them. Certain kinds of cancer would cause me to apply for an early exit (colon cancer being one of them; I could not cope with intestines gradually chopped into nothing while undergoing multiple rounds of chemo and the discomfort of an ostomy bag; not gonna happen to me; my auntie and a great friend's daughter did it and I do not have that courage, nor that will to live). COPD, on the other hand, just means accepting exhaustion and a slow decline into breathlessness, and that doesn't seem awful.
As for seasons, I like maiden, mother and crone, but I note that crone is probably the longest stage for many of us. Maiden: 0-puberty or marriage, which may differ, but say 0-25. Mother: 25-50. Crone: 50-end. I'd like to live past 75, but who knows?
