Perhaps you could start that in a new thread jae, so as not to further distract from the original post question in this thread.

I was answering questions asked of me in this thread by an Admin Carolla. That having been said, sure, I don't mind posting on a new thread instead.

Pr. Jae. and all.
When I post, I post as me. I am not a moderator, nor does an Admin have any power on any thread other than a spam thread.
So, for the umpteenth time @Pr. Jae , I am a poster on these threads. If you were approached by a Moderator , you would know it.
You have been around since the site was designed, part of the role design, and have been on this site for a while. If you still have questions, post it in council business, please.

What I just did Pinga was answer a question of Carolla's to me, not ask questions of my own. You have a good day now.

(it's true. Jae was just answering Pinga's questions - and Pinga is an admin who knows the site rules and keeping threads on track - which is why I assume he mentioned she was an admin - and then Carolla asked Jae to take his discussion to a different thread when it was, in fact, a response to Pinga's questions. Not putting anyone down - just noting that's what happened. So, it could've been requested of both Jae and Pinga, not just Jae. Or, just let the questions be asked and answered, no biggie.)

Are there voids here? As far as I am concerned I know little about eternal things ...

Do some tracks need to cross to allow connection?

and.......i realize that I followed the trail to take this thread way off track My apologies mrs. anteater.

I wonder about the $10. It previous years, I might have to used it for tampons or pads.
You know, i bet folks don't spent money on Poise or other items...if faced with food or toothpaste.....you'd probably for for food.

Back on topic, I might use that $10 to buy something that I could not get elsewhere, such as my health care items, or my child's health care items.

Absolutely. My sister in law was a nursing student many years ago; as part of their public health training, they sat with welfare clients to help them manage their funds better. She was horrified to discover that there was no way this woman could afford adequate calories to live on AND monthly menstrual supplies. Welfare has gone down in real dollars since then.

We face this problem every week at our pantry table. The congregation donates canned goods, pasta and cereal. They also sometimes donate tampons, toilet tissue, diapers, toothpaste. Once we got a whole box of supplies from a camp-ground canteen at the end of the season (manager was a church member). We almost never have enough.

I would definately buy from the gettingout of date box. Pasta, can of tomatoes, usually both can be for less that $1 each

PB is expensive but with a loaf of bread does many meals. I would try to add a bag of powdered skim milk and dried beans

At my local store, such area(s) are known as the "ding bin", and characterized by hot pink X% off stickers. My pink-stickered freezer declares me the Queen of the Ding Bin.

I've also heard that now "ugly" vegetables can be bought at a reduced price. They are the items that aren't shaped the same as others, or have blemishes which do not impact quality .

I bought some excellent sandwich buns today that were marked down substantially - they were in the 'day old' area of the bakery section. I brought them home, re-wrapped & froze them. My local store usually has a multi-shelf cart in the produce section with 'reduced' items - great place to find over-ripe bananas for making banana bread. Sometimes in the meat coolers, items are marked with big red stickers indicating they at due date & a certain amount will be taken off at the cashier. That's where I find stuff :-)

Safeway usually has marked down their baked goods by 50% if you shop at about 8 or 9 p.m. or later, which is not uncommon for me, nor for my roommate or my ex - it's open until midnight. The busiest time at the Safeway in my old neighbourhood was probably 10 p.m. I'd usually into people (church friends too). That's also when lots of things have been marked down. The fresh soups are cheaper by then, also.

If your stores close earlier, I'd recommend shopping closer to whatever the closing time is to find good marked down items.

Run into people, that is.

No Frills is closest to me now, so I shop there more than Safeway unless Safeway's on my way home. NF is only open until 9 but they usually have good deals on all day.
