Same here in London, @Lastpointe . Been watching my "neighbour" (meaning the spider living on my kitchen door) wrap up a ladybug she caught instead. She's probably an inch or or across (leg tip to leg tip). Take the tip of your little finger from the last knuckle to the tip and picture it with long, hairy legs. She inspires my fascination and my arachnophobia in equal measures, but I'm letting her stay for now. Her abdomen is seriously huge so I suspect she's going to be laying eggs soon.

So are spiders. Do you realize how many flies and other harmful bugs they consume? And the ladybug was already toast. She was just packing it up to save for lunch later.

Crystal clear night in the Vancouver area tonight. Sundown is in about 20 minutes, and the eclipse starts at about the same time. My wife and I are dressed warm and we're going to a local hill with some chairs and hot tea.

Well, i can't see any moon. It's still dusk, almost dark, as I type. Maybe it's already eclipsed, or trees are blocking my view. I was just out for a walk. A couple of people at the corner grocery were talking about it. All i saw was the sky starting to turn a nice purply pink colour to the east, and noticed a World News van heading towards Burnaby Mountain.

Oh disappointing ... very cloudy here - damn lake effect!! All I got to see was a raccoon raiding the neighbours garbage.

Which is why I always let spiders live. However - when possible - I will always save ladybugs. However - if she was already toast ---

I was able to see it. Just ran out for a little bit. Was hoping to see it from the deck, no such luck. Had to move a ways back in the yard due to roof peaks. That grass is cold right now!
If I go out later I'll choose footwear that's warmer than flip flops Ah well, good to take down some foot swelling.

It looks like a crescent moon now, and changing fast. I bet with a telescope, and the right filter 'cause the moon's too bright, you could see the shadow move.

We first saw it tonight when it was totally red and the sky was still not yet dark. It was far down on the horizon and we had to look through the smog of Vancouver. It only got better as it darkened and rose above the pollution line. But it was worth going out, especially with the Black Grouse single malt in our apple cinnamon tea.

I got maybe a ten second glimpse mid-eclipse. Clouds parted just long enough for me to see things in process and then that was it.

Too cloudy here for much, I think. Daughter and her guy took off with camera equipment and complicated plans to get rides to outskirts of town. I fear they had a disappointing night.
