I had a wondercul view of the eclipse....beautiful halo effect on the full moon as the eclpse started around ten. Slight reddish colour to the moon during the eclipse. Beautiful!!!

So glad many of you enjoyed the show! I went to bed disappointed - and got up around 12:30 to find brilliant moonlight streaming in my windows! So our clouds showed up just for a while - at the critical time period.

During one of my trips outside to check, my neighbour came out with his iPad & was live streaming from somewhere with clear skies. So we held the iPad up in the air, and contented ourselves - "there, we're outside, we're watching the eclipse up in the sky ... " It was a valiant effort!

I fell asleep and woke with only the silvery shadow drifted across the roof ... a Dravidian theory about the darker hues ... few see the depth of IT ... the dark thing in Gods world of emotions ... Cos ess brae-in pharts ... PEWS?

Not rumour any more and not just frost. Flowing liquid water that appears on certain hillsides in the spring-summer period. It's briny, to be sure, and the streaks it forms are partly due to deposition of those minerals but it is liquid water on another planet which is something new and exciting. Alas, neither of the currently active rovers are equipped to do anything about it so we'll be in suspense for a long while until NASA (or someone, perhaps the ESA or Chinese) can mount a mission to investigate the source and look into whether any kind of life exists in the wet areas. It is good news for those who think we can still find active life on Mars but only to the extent that the absence of liquid water would have reduced the chances so this keeps the possibility alive. It does not prove anything, though.
