He was blessed with stereotypical rock star sex appeal, too! I don’t even mind the beard on him (though, he might consider trimming it - keep stuff from getting caught in there.) He’s got a 70s - Young Kris Kristofferson - look. He’s got all the right retro elements rolled into one, with a current lyrical point of view, and it works.

The dystopian pessimism reminds me of Pink Floyd. So, that means there is hope! They were singing similar things, about their time, decades ago, they became superstars, and we’re still here!

Wow! This is great.

@BetteTheRed you might like it. @Luce NDs I was thinking that you might appreciate the lyrics.

If life is love ... during a passionate fit ... what do we really know ... until life begins to settle where ever it came from ... the ups and downs of a' Moors?

Does allows breaks and rifts in the eternal ... alas some are pre occupational ... just not functioning both ways ... could be the impact!

Don't know why, but I seem to have ABBA on the brain. I don't think it's the sequel to Mamma Mia that's doing it (though it's sure not helping). I hadn't even realized it was imminent until after I started incessantly listening to ABBA Gold in the car.

So, I've checked out Super Trouper, which has long been my favorite ABBA album, from Hoopla and had it on coming in to work this morning. And, damned if it doesn't hold up well. Benny and Bjorn's songwriting is top-notch and the ladies are in fine form on the vocals. And I think it's got some of Benny's best keyboard work, too. Songs include the title track (which opens with some gorgeous a cappella singing by Agnetha and Anni-Frid), The Winner Takes It All (one of their best compositions), One of Us, Happy New Year, and The Way Old Friends Do, which ends the album with a bang (sung in full harmonies over Wembley Stadium's pipe organ).

Is that a new one? I haven't heard any Barber in awhile.

Not new. I'm usually several years behind trend. I think it's 5-6 years old. It's lovely driving music. My mother used to sing many of the songs. Helps brush up on my French too!

So, my Galaxy S9 came with 3 months free sub for Google Play Music. So, as happened last time I got this offer (with my old S6), time to enjoy unlimited free (for me) music for three months. :D

First up: All the Lake Street Dive albums. I'm still madly in the love with this band and have only listened to their recent albums. Google Play has a good selection of their back catalogue (not perfectly complete, though) so I've added them to my library. Listening to their self-titled first label release (they did two self releases before signing with Signature Records) right now. Different from their current stuff, but recognizably Lake Street Dive.

See what happens when you try to subscribe. I accidentally cleared the prompt when I first saw it but it still gave me the offer when I tried to sub.

Well, look at that, it worked. I probably could have had it for the S6 I had too. So now I am listening to "Tanglefoot Radio". :)

Tash Sultana...

Okay...she...rocks!

Oh, my...I thought I was about 80% hetero but she really is a roots rock goddess! She made my heart skip a beat like Eddie Vedder used to do. She's only 23, though. I'm old enough to be her mom. This music - and talent -is out of this world.

she's using one of those looping machines...that's how she can be a one person band and make it look (relatively) easy, except it's not. I saw a musician demonstrate how it works. They can basically record live tracks with various instruments, the and layer them live as they go, and use foot peddles to start and stop them.

She is one of the most talented people I've ever seen/ heard. Go girl!
