Pumpkin and squash pies are simply a sweet starchy vegetable blended with a custard base (eggs and milk/cream). Sweet potatoes are a sweet starchy veg, Simply prep potatoes as you would pumpkin (roasted preferred as you get a degree of caramelization that deepens flavour) and puree and use them as pumpkin. Or google sweet potato pie - it's a southern US thing (has a bit more butter). I used Japanese sweet potatoes, which I like (and more importantly had on hand), but are white fleshed not orange fleshed, so I added a bit of food colouring and a bit of molasses to get a more pumpkin like appearance.
Bette, I really would love to live on your cooking for a week…

It is a difficult time that crossing into the unknown ... that some declare they know all about. It is good to have someone on both sides that care ... sometimes the caring factor on this side seems to be lost to great avarice ... thoughts are with you and yours Nancy! Even though many say thought, knowledge and such is evil ... and other comments that are hard to understand ... when alive and observing it is tough ... requires considerable philosophy ...

Good morning! It is Wednesday. We thanks BettetheRed for the pies, and Nancy for the pumpkin muffins, they both look good.
Our thoughts are with Nancy and family, as they watch over her Mother.
We gather round the Coffee Cart for conversation, moral support, and community, as well as coffee, tea, and baked goodies. Today, our marvelous Wonderbaker has baked scones for us, and has provided us with several jams and spreads for them.
The tea water is boiling, and the coffee is freshbrewed. The scones are warm from the oven. All is ready, all are welcome! come in and share your thoughts!

Pi' is what appears when you knock the corners of the ruagh construct ... how square is that ... then it turns ... and Arthur's Table ... a' matte? Some say ammeter ... to a beat! The pulse is on ...

"On Wednesdays he goes shopping
And has buttered scones for tea"

The Lumberjack Song by Monty Python's Flying Circus if you don't know it already.

I'm making a pot of English Breakfast tea. Anyone else? Goes well with the scones.

I brought some clotted Devonshire cream for the the scones
You know, I don't think I have ever had clotted cream. Even on my tour of the UK and Ireland, I don't recall that that I had it. I've been hearing about its existence forever but never tried it.

I was just remarking to our HR director that I want to trade in my body for a newer model. Just getting some pain and inflammation in my left Achilles tendon under control and now my right knee is acting up. I mean, yeah, I'm aging but I'm not THAT old yet.

Is your leg fat enough to be chewed upon? Another leg of the story ...

Is your leg fat enough to be chewed upon?
Depends what's doing the chewing. Might be a bit of a mouthful for a human or dog, but I'm quite sure a shark or tiger would find it quite to their liking.
