Welcome to Wondercafe2!

Quiet weekend around here. Just some housework to do. D-i-l's b-day is coming up but we are just sending something, not making the trek.

Good morning! How is everyone? Time on the shore and in the water, shopping for concrete garden figures, doing some housework, relaxing, sounds like the weekend was well spent. Hope you had a chance to relax as well. We gather around the Coffee Cart once again, over tea and coffee. Here we converse, give and receive moral support, and develop deeper camaraderie. Along with our tea and coffee, the Wonderbaker has provided us with a pineapple upside down cake to enjoy. The tea water is hot, coffee is freshbrewed, and cake is warm from the oven. All is ready, everyone is welcome. Come on in and join in!

Thus we back off and look into things that are tight ... and wishing for control as might cause freaking ... leaks occur ... something cannot be held or even hold for long ... for reason unknown ... we lost it! Might have been the emotional wend ... warped? There are those odd lensing's ... they say it is gravitational ... a bit of the draw? Straws ... pick one and look into it ...

Good morning! Monday has rolled around again. How was the weekend for you? Any big plans for the week? In this part of Canada, it will be hot again, heat warnings already posted for today and tomorrow; hope we cab stay as cool as we can. We gather round the Coffee Cart in the air-conditioned Room, for our daily dose of chat, support, and connecting. Coffee and tea provided as well as the Wonderbaker's cupcakes of assorted kinds. The tea water ishot, coffee fresh brewed, and cupcakes warm and tantalizing. All is ready, all are welcome. C'mon in!

With other friends we play a version of Hand and Foot, and we round out the evening with O s**t! I grew up playing Canasta and it is still the easiest game for me to play. I have never played Bridge.

LOL. My family's cottage game if it is the one I know as "Oh s**t" aka Blackout. Ironically, we occasionally played in blackouts using oil lambs that were in the cottage attic for lighting. Cribbage was the other big cottage game. Grandad had put a coffee table in the living room of the bigger of the two cottages that had a cribbage board on it. You used golf tees as pegs, to give an idea of the size.

Oddly, I have never learned Euchre. Or bridge. My friends and I were more into board and roleplaying games than cards when it came down to it.

Used to play 10's with folks at the camp ... I was told it was similar to euchre ... I couldn't really say as I really wasn't a card shark! I found other things more interesting ... is that otherwise to those loving gaming? It is something to observe ...

One of my favourite memories is going to a rented camp with two work friends...trying to relax after a particularly trying teaching year. The venue was beautiful, but it became secondary after we started playing cards. The two friends were French Canadian and said that card-playing was a big part of their growing up. I taught them Canasta which they loved. We dragged chairs and a table outside so we could play cards while we looked out at beautiful Lake Superior. A friend's son came to check on us...a very outdoorsy guy...couldn't quite believe his eyes at seeing us playing cards instead of kayaking, or canoeing or something else more outdoor related. For years after that we met every month to play Canasta. Since then once has moved away. I miss those get togethers.

My grandmother used to go with 4 women and played bridge. They would rent a motel room, and that is all they would do. I can see how that would be wonderful.

It's on my "some day" list -- learn to play bridge.

I do love cards, and games.

Cards and games are fun, to be sure. A great way to spend time with friends.
Good morning! Heat warning in this area still in effect today, hope your weather is better. We gather once again round the Coffee Cart, for tea, coffee, and baked goodies. Today the Wonderbaker has made cream puffs for us to enjoy. The tea water id boiling, and coffee is freshbrewed; the puffs are warm from the bakery. All is ready, everyone is welcome. Come in and join the fun and frivolity!

I some ways this pathway leads to something beyond games that play with our illogical parts ... an illogically we may wonder and question whether there is anything contained within as a medium! Then someone will cross it to see what's on the alternate side as another ide or a strange wind blowing in from out there ...

Dislike of strange things creates divides between the known and what isn't ... something to reason through? I expect there is a mass that never will because of delinquencies in curiosity! Some portions thus remain unknown ... and stretch out there ... producing some strange narratives ... regarding items beyond us !

Can you imagine things running away from that ?

mmm....cream puffs. First time I ever ate one was from the high school cafeteria. Mom baked a lot and we were never deprived of sweet treats. But cream puffs were a delicacy I had never encountered before Grade 9.

Mine, too. It seemed to be one of her hobbies, making cakes, pies, muffins, cookies and so on. Special items for special occasions, too. For Hallowe'en she made chocolate cupcakes and put orange icing on, then we got to put jack o'lantern faces on them with chocolate chips. Fruitcakes and shortbread cookies for Christmas. Squares and pies or cakes when we had company. And so on.

Our weather seems to be cooling a bit. Thank Mother Nature for that. Many communities are still clearing up the damage from savage storms and waiting to get their power back running. Where I live we lost electrical service for less than a day. Lucky!

My mum wasn't a good cook and her baking lagged behind too. We were fed very basic meals and baking was occasionally purchased.
