Looking like good weather here for today, less so tomorrow. Got a few odd jobs to do but mostly a quiet weekend. Nice pool steps.

I placed bids on some items on MaxSold, and then after I had top bid, I double checked the location, and was ilke, what were you thinking, you have to drive 45min to get them in Simcoe on Sunday morning.

Then...I realized that I will only be 10 minutes from a good friend that I haven't seen in way too long, so, a quick message, and we are meeting for coffee close to where I am picking up the items.

Plus, a fellow Toastmasters was going to drive to my house to deliver a TV for the club. He's also from Simcoe, so saving a busy young Dad that trip.

I love when things work out.

Never did anything like this before. There's something to be said for just assuming you can do something, then doing it.

Still have to clean up around. Shouldn't be too hard to remove from tile face.

I see Gene Shalit passed away at 100. Very colourful figure. I remember him well from back in the day. Apparently he retired from the Today Show in 2010 which I guess is why I haven't heard the name in a long time.

Today is a full day of goodness.

Headed to a writing day at a friends. Potluck lunch. Creative folks. Amherst writing method prompts. I come away so refreshed from these days.

Then, my brother and sister-in-law are in town and are coming over for dinner and a visit.

Thankful for sunny days, gardens that got watered by the rain, and reconnections. Bought jam strawberries at the local farmstand, and they are so delicious. Froze some, but, getting our first fill of strawberries. Also, bought a strawberry rhubarb pie for the potluck, and some summer flowers for the host.

Hope that the rest of the clean-up works well @chansen .
Thanks for the coffee @Redbaron . I'm going to help myself to some of the strawberries that were fresh picked by someone. They are full of summer goodness.

Dad and Grandad were pipe smokers until, I think, the mid-eighties. I think they quit when I was in university or late in high school. Could not have been good for my respiratory tract given Dad often had a pipe going in the rec room during Sunday afternoon football and that sort of thing. Pipe tobacco was probably the least offensive odour-wise, though. I'd take it over cigarettes or (choke, gag) cigars and pot.

Of course, that was the era when smoking in restaurants and bars was still allowed and fairly accepted. Glad that ended.
