Room For All

Welcome to Wondercafe2!

A community where we discuss, share, and have some fun together. Join today and become a part of it!

Good morning! Hope yo are all well. Today, and the next few days in this area, will be a bit colder and a lot wetter than yesterday; but nothing that can's be handled. We gather this Thursday morning round the Coffee Cart to converse, to support and be supported, and to strengthen our community links. As well, we imbibe tea and coffee, and enjoy the efforts of the Wonderbaker. This morning the Baker provides us with English muffins, with many spreads and toppings, both sweet and savoury. Also there are sausage patties if you like. We also have some applesauce bites from yesterday left over, if you'd like some. The tea water is boiling, the coffee is freshbrewed, and muffins are toasted to golden-brown perfection. All is ready, everybody is welcome. Come in, and join the fun!

While I go for some well raised donuts, some will eject the idea and insert dough nuts from you know who? Thus what was tossed is raised again as onus ... a responsibility to care for waste and prodigal ... a fringe society?

May resemble the wealth in a trashed globe ... not much to look at ... ugly came forth after the first 3 after all ... finis?

What if beauty and ugly switched positions ... bewitching? Expect declarations ...

Interesting conversation at lunch time at work: one coworker had gone to the Anglican church for Christmas mass. She refused the cup- since everyone was drinking from the same cup in times of Covid and flu -and got the evil eye from the priest….then they talked about Catholic communion and that one is not allowed to walk away with the bread- and often not even allowed to touch it but has to open one’s mouth. Our minister ( United church)was part of the conversation and she reported that once when serving in a nursing home, it fell to the floor and the nun serving it jumped to eat it off the floor…
Honestly, growing up Catholic in the 80 ties- we were more modern than that….
However, I couldn’t keep myself from mentioning to our hospital minister that there wasn’t too much difference to what she was doing with all the donated bibles people give her or just leave ( and run)- she buries them, because “ the word of God is so holy” that they can’t be recycled or otherwise disposed off.
Am I the only one finding this weird?
It’s not that this is a public demonstration intended to offend someone, like the burning of books or flags or whatever. Nobody would even know if she recycled them….
When she told me about burying the books a few years back,it was really a problem because she was getting bags and bags of them- probably from all the other people not daring to put them in recycling….

Good morning! Cool again in this area, snow and wind coming this afternoon. Good day to stay in and read, around ere. Interesting how Communion is handled in different laces; when I did Communion in hospitals/ care homes, it was basically at bedside, for 1 person, and I used the disposable plastic cups.
Burial of Bibles I wasn't familiar with, or the reasons why.

Anyway, to get Friday off to a good start, we gather round the Coffee Cart, for conversation support, and camaraderie, over tea and coffee. The Wonderbaker has made those wonderful cinnamon buns again for our indulgence. The tea water is hot,, the coffee breshbrewed, and the buns are wonderfully warm. All is ready, everyone is welcome. Come in and join the fun!

And we get a stab at shoving some words in a dark and abstract place ... really quite a spot to unravel some high stories about how the shining particles fall to earth ... MU*ons? Captive dancers out there on the circle ... shedding reflections!

Is it possible to unravel the ultimate cord if it is infinite? Look at it hard and it disappears over the visual horizon ... appears to get to nowhere very quickly. In some classic linguistics "nowhere" was utopia ... perhaps just over the hill and into the next what ... "dell"? That's deep ... resembles the young thing next door ... according to one song! Who became the MS's and who became Ohmer? First the swing ...pendulous --- Foucault? Then the drift ...

Someone shouted stop ... it must have been mealtime! Even UCC folk seize up then ...

About burying Bibles. This is what I was taught as a child with the added stipulation that the Bible had to be wrapped in white paper.

I have tossed a few old ones into the recycling bin over the years but it always gives me a pang.

If you keep them long enough they appear like parchment or somehow classical ... ratty! Rattan ... so as to pass dirt on the neighbor ... like muskrat you can bank on that dirt ...

Sometimes the only intercourse once the honeymoon ends! Huge discussions on "what was"! Then Bung pops up ... the barrel's end ... wasn't that fun to shoot that one down ... its canon! Albeit still Ba' aL considering the little we know for sure ...

AL once represented initial lamb or pagan light when someone fell ... from wherever they were perched! Fishing ... ph etching ...

Ever been there beel lie? Keep plugging along ... as if there's nowhere else to go ... there may not be! We just say there is when really what do we know for sure? Something goes on ... so lets label it immortal! Even if it is dark, deep and mysterious as the night ... it continues ... dais after dais! Dizzying ...

Morning...snow on the way here today.
I can see in a time when printed books were less common, the bible especially would be reverenced as an object ie. "The Family Bible", and certainly a blessed object by Catholics. Makes much less sense with vast numbers of cheap copies in circulation. The notion of a sacred object seems animistic to me. The notion of sacrilege related to objects is idolotry. I recall reading that you could get executed for accidently sitting on a newspaper with a picture of Mao Zedong on it...taking it to it's extreme application.
In other news, I love my Merlin bird app these days. Anyone else use it?
I made "breakfast cheesecake" if anyone would like to try it. Recipe (serves one) two eggs, one tablespoon of semolina (cream of wheat), one good tablespoon Greek yogurt, cottage cheese 3/4 cup, sweetener to taste -- I use 2-3 tablespoons honey, grated orange or lemon rind to taste optional. Frozen fruit like blueberries or strawberries. Put a layer of fruit drizzled with extra honey on the bottom of a baking dish. Combine all the rest in a blender and pour overtop. Bake at 325 until firm. Eat all of it if you like. Lots of protein. Recipe is a couple thousand years old.

I have two really old family Bibles but there is no information recorded in either of them.

The pages are yellowed and brittle and the book spines are broken. Many years ago I thought about getting them rebound but I never did more than think about it.

Wouldn't bother now because the next generation has no interest in family artifacts like these Bibles.

My maternal grandmother had a Family Bible. It was preserved by my mum and is now held by a nephew. . It records births and deaths going back many years. I have no idea if any new names are being recorded. Guess I could ask him!

Good Saturday morning, all! Bible disposal can be an interesting subject. I seem to recall in my youth, there were 2 or 3 local organizations that would accept donated Bibles, no matter how heavily used, rebind and refurbish them, and send them to missions to be given out. (I often wondered how effective it was to send KJV bibles to Thailand or Africa, where very few could read, or speak English...)
Anyway, time again to gather round the Coffee Cart to continue to chat, support , and connect, over tea, coffee and baked goodies. Today the Wonderbaker has created about a dozen assorted pies for us: cherry, apple, shoofly, and many others, in celebration of pi day. The tea water is boiling, coffee is freshbrewed, and the pies are warm. Everyone is welcome, all is ready. Come on in, have a slice or two of pie, and join the conversation!

Happy pi day!

Good morning. We have up to 50cm of snow predicted tomorrow into Monday. At this point, the only good thought is that surely it will melt soon.

Imagine people consuming matter that contaminated with word ... given the hatred for listening to anything but wild myths ... these take flight and expand under thermodynamic pressures! The urge that drives the underworld ... that beneath your regular sense ... dark and abstract on top of that! Questionable? Incarnates so ... as she parades out there ... focus on the dark ONE's dreams! Obscure or occult because they are hard to see ... that's the night life ... home of shadier angels ... stalking ... sometimes intuitive as the braes ...
