Pretty much regular giant slalom skis. Some manufacturers make SX specific skis with softer tips and tails, but they're very close to GS and are not required.

Everything else is the same. Skin suits are the same. Back braces are suggested. All disciplines are moving to cut-resistant clothing but that will take time, or a major blood loss injury to speed it up.

I've been around too long. I know how change occurs. I can see things coming a mile away.

Disappointing day for our Toastmaster's club today ...trying to remember there was good news amidst the crap.

Arrived to find the Sergeant-at-Arms was there early sitting up. That is awesome, and something that is good to see. He looked at me and said "were you here earlier?", then explained that when he got there the tv was already out, and our long bag containing flag and camera stands was out.

He was just explaining that he couldn't find our backpack on wheels, when the Treasurer arrived and asked "are we missing anything?"

Turns out the store staff caught two people walking down the stairs with our tv, stealing it. They stopped them -- which is good.

As it turns out, they likely had our backpack on -- ugh, and in the process of stealing our brand new large tv, they broke it. Frick.
They also stole the long hdmi cable.

I'm trying to focus on positive, and look at how do we reduce risk when we replace it, but, dang nab it. It sucks.

On the plus side, we had two new people, one who is interested in joining, which is positive news.

Liking for the last item. The first is just ... yeah. Hope your group comes back strong from this. Better TV and technology, maybe.

Why has a club like that military names for it’s members?

The menu doesn’t look that palatable. Are those onion rings?
There is someone's thermos with tea in it. Otherwise, it's wax and brushes, some rotating, some hand brushes.

Honestly, I'd rather eat the wax than drink the tea.

We had 19 athletes. The skis are waxed and brushed out before every run. Every athlete had at least 3 heats. Some had 6. We waxed and brushed close to 100 pairs of skis on Sunday. It's an assembly line to give our athletes a slight performance boost, and us carpal tunnel syndrome.

Good morning! Hope everybody is well. Ski adventures in extreme cold, drives who still cannot learn to drive in snowy weather, the Toastmasters loss of their equipment, still cold, still winter. Well, spring WILL come, hopefully in the nit too distant future. In the meantime, we gather again for our morning conversation over coffee, tea, and baked goodies. Here we can find mutual support and community. The Baker has provided us with a wonderful coffee cake to enjoy. The Baker also reminds us that there are still some bagels left over, maybe not so fresh, but still eminently edible. All is ready, tea water boiling and coffee freshbrewed; cake and bagels nicely warm and welcoming. Everybody is welcome. Come in and join in the chat!

Coffee Cake!!! A bakery in Kitchener used to make coffee cake to die for. Forget the name just now but it will probably come to me later (actually, I think it was Norris). Mom and Dad used to get it at their market stall but they had a store as well.

Good morning. Blustery with some new snow. Blowing snow is more of a problem than new accumulation today, though.

My only ugh driving incident was having a Tacoma with tonneau cover over the back zip in front of me. Which would have been fine except he didn't clean off the back so I had a load of light snow blowing straight back at my windshield. It was like driving in fog for a few minutes until most of it had blown off.

Good morning all. I rather fancy a toasted bagel this morning. My daughter in law gave ne a selection of jams yesterday that I'll gladly share. There is raspberry, strawberry, blueberry and rhubarb and ginger. Take your pick if you too fancy a bagel.
