Talking aBout measles- here is the US official non-reaction:
And the official Canadian one:

Aren’t we lucky we have responsible health officials.

Regarding measles; should it be allowed to lie being lied about so as to diminish the populace so the great ONE can mess around more?

Mess I awe ...???? It is underdetermined ...

Good morning! March has arrived, lamblike or lion-like, or somewhere in between. A grandchild has arrived, and the celebrations of a new child continues. The measles outbreak and government responses to it are notable. These and other topics call us to the Coffee Cart in the Room, for discussion and support over coffee, tea and nice warm muffins. Coffee is freshly brewed, tea water is boiling, muffins nicely arrayed. All is ready, come and get it!!

We have an Imam coming as our guest speaker.
That's a cool idea. I assume his talk will relate to Ramadan? Yesterday was supposed to be the first day of the fast (depends on the sighting of the crescent moon). The UUs here had a good relationship going with London Mosque back when I was going. The RE program visited the mosque and things like that. Not sure about today.

No big plans. I was pretty in the dumps yesterday but discovering a new favourite singer kind of yanked me out of it. More in the "So What Are You Listening To?" thread.

If AI takes over all our mental processes ... could it then shut them down to rid the earth of further folly (in the opinion of a system without empathy)?

Do you know of powers that dislike empathy of all type? Are they great powers rather than lessor? Humbling rights ... so much Chaos it is like trying to carry out some fair transactional stuff ...

Can it exist in a world set up for winners only? Thus the losers run off over the horizon ... and someday the winner will wake and declare: "where are all the working folk?" Nothing left but couch potatoes ... non-existential physical stress! ... weird ...

I didn't think folk had a mind for ide ... thus the thing of being shut down! Epistemological inhibition ... and it became not! C'est fini (J Esous last words)!

Did someone say that Jesus taught in a pub ... drink up folks! Here one finds the best myths ... stuff mystics can't handle ... too hot! Like Lou in that saloon up north ... a story for all situations coming to a head ... prerequisite?

One must have a decent head on ... no headless horsemen ... they can't tell one end from the other!

Sunny and cool here (but not viciously cold). Yesterday left us with ice in random places so not many people out walking. We went to watch a grandude playing Indoor Soccer. His team got totally trounced during the first game. 8 - 0 at half time. The second half wasn't much better. Grandude said he prefers to win but knows that means someone else loses. It is only a game.

I am enjoying the spring flower photos that others are posting online.

@mendala
The Imam this morning at church was not someone local (as I had supposed).

Imam Jamal Rahman joined us via video link from California. He is apparently a big voice in interfaith relations.

He was quite wonderful. His topic was inclusivity in the Koran. He said that the Holy books of all religions contain instructions for particular situations in addition to universal instructions. He was engaging and thought provoking. Well received by the congregation.

After the service we voted on our new minister. She is coming to us in July from Nova Scotia.

Bit of a jog for her. Good on you. Of the United Church congregations I used to visit around here, only Siloam is without permanent clergy right now. Their minister of visitation is currently also interim minister for worship. We aren't going to church at the moment but have been talking about it again. My UU inclinations make even progressive Christian churches a bit difficult for me. Though a church like yours that could see its way to having an Imam or Rabbi as a speaker seems rather closer to what I would be looking for.
