I made the mistake of joking about Claire's future wedding once. We laughed about her wearing my mom's wedding dress from 1965. Never typed anything about this in my phone.

Later that day, I get slammed with wedding dress ads.

That was spooky.

You think that's spooky, sometimes I just think about something, and the ads show up. I'm starting to sound like RFK jr.

What a fun day. I had lunch at a nearby tea room with a friend. Lots of good discussion and great food. Then we went north to the next town to visit a fun gifty store. It reminded me of another store in our city so we went there too. I was able to buy a baseball t-shirt for my husband. That's his favourite style so I was glad to see it. He was happy when I gave it to him as a just because gift. My friend and I covered a lot of ground in our conversations today. I've eaten supper and will be heading to the Legion for a knit night. I'll sleep well tonight.

Cool Northwind.

Went to my daughter's school concert tonight. Was fun. Zach even had a classmate there to see his older sister, so they got to play a bit after the concert, run around the gymnasium, and annoy me. I got to throw Zach against the padded walls. Like, really launch him.

Edit: He's at the end of his "chuckable" years. We chucked Claire, and I absolutely launched Carter. Like across-the-room-into-beanbag-chairs launching. He loved it, especially after the injury. Zach never liked it before, but likes it now that he's 9 and I get a hernia with every throw. "But I'm old now!" doesn't phase him. He doesn't care for excuses, unless they are for explaining why his homework isn't done.

Good morning! Thursday is here. Lots of conversation about power outages, preparations for outages, solar panels, generators of various types, causes for outages, and some other topics. We bring these, along with whatever may arise today, to the Coffee Cart with us, for discussion as we share in coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and various baked treats. Coffee is fresh brewed, water for tea and chocolate is ready. All is ready, all are welcome. Come inand join the fun!

As of January 9, my mom will be a permanent resident of a seniors' home! It's not the one where she is receiving respite care at the moment, but if a place comes available there, she can have it. This is a huge relief. The good news is that Mom is enjoying where she is now...She has lots of company -- family, plus the other residents who seem to like her, and when you don't have any memory, it's important to live each moment well. Which is what she is doing.

Such a relief, Nancy.

Yes, there may be challenges, but likely those challenges and more already exist.

Does she use a phone?

Off to get my covid shot then to lunch at a Vietnamese restaurant by the marina for lunch. The afternoon will hopefully include some sloth and a book.

It has been quite a day dealing with psychopathic type personalities that regardless of denials tend to drive us crazy ... as observed in the characters of One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest ... said to be related to a Rhode runner ... ultimate wanderer? Insane right ...

Awesome.

The phone was a real challenge for my Dad. He was a person who regularly had very long conversations.
As he continued to fail, the phone became a nightmare.

We tried mobile phones when he was in the retirement home -- didn't work well.
Try using ones designed for blind. Didn't work well as he couldn't learn.
He could receive calls, but, rarely phone, and just couldn't navigate it well. Plus he would lose them.

When he went into the long term care home, hewas insistent on a phone. It was becomings omethign he would focus on.
I got a phone in his room.
He couldn't figure out how to use it most days.
One night when I was at a friends and we were drinking, my cell phone rang -- and it was the police.
They confirmed who i was and how i was related to "insert my dad's name"
The tone of the call became much more pleasant when I advised them he was in the memory care section of a long-term care facility.
He had called 911 and said that someone had locked him in a dark place. (He had woken up at 8:50pm, didn't know where he was, the lights were off and he panicked)
They had to go and check on him
We had the phone unplugged, and only pugged in when people were with him.

My mom's interest is the television, but that can be a challenge too. As her memory faded, she would write list after list of television channels and what shows she watched.

we duct taped the television remote control to only give him certain keys.
He watched the toronto news channel constantly.

My mother and the television were hilarious. It became such that my baby sister, adept at TV controllers, would come over and fix the TV for Mom, then tape over the buttons she was not allowed to push.
