So, it's half knit, stitches have been lost and found, there seems to 12-ish on 4 needles, no visible holes. It's challenging and very good for my concentration and co-ordination skills. I will never be an accomplished knitter. And the silly nails don't help.

I am attempting to knit a simple hat for the big guy for Christmas. There have been stitches dropped, picked up, I had to cast on 3 times... Sister didn't have needles large enough so I had to purchase at Len's Mills, and it was a metal set of 5 needles which slip off stitches very badly. And this bulky wool splits. Whine, whine, wine...
Not sure if i should laugh, cry with you, or just commiserate

I hope it works out

Good morning! For those who are knitting gifts for Christmas, we wish for patience in hope in their craft. We gather in spirit round the Coffee Cart, for conversation and mutual moral support, over coffee, tea and nice fresh cupcakes. The tea water is hot, coffee is fresh brewed, cupcakes are warm from the oven. Come in when you have the chance, have a mug or cup, and a cupcake, and join the conversations! All is ready.

We stopped shelling out years ago and our area has been very quiet in recent years. The kid across the street is still a bit young and his dad said that they might just take him to the mall, which does an indoor Halloween trick or treat. Weather looks sucky after mid-afternoon anyhow. There's a couple girls from up the street that I sometimes say hi to when they pass en route to meet the schoolbus. But a lot of my neighbours are empty nesters and seniors right now. The two houses to the East of me are empty and probably going up for sale at some point. Far cry from when Little M's generation were trick or treat age and the neighbourhood was lousy with kids.

Frankly, my Halloween mood did not really kick in this year. Not sure why. It's usually a favourite day of mine, given my fondness for ghost stories and such. At least I got a Halloween story out early when the mood was there a bit.

Has Halloween taken off at all in Korea? I know the Chinese are kind of into the costumes and parties at least. Shanghai even cracked down because they felt things were getting too political (e.g. Trump costumes).
Halloween here really takes on two forms, Mendalla. Many kids wear costumes to school and/or hagwon (academy). And many young adults go out, sometimes in costume, carousing. A couple of years ago, on October 29, there was a tragedy in one of Seoul's neighborhoods, Itaewon. A crowd surge killed about 160 people. As a result many people here also associate that with Halloween

I think that actually made news here. Sounds vaguely familiar at any rate. Sad when a celebration goes awry like that.

Yeah... it probably did make the news there. Last year, all the celebrators went to another Seoul neighborhood, Hongdae, instead. This year, people seemed more divided between staying in Hongdae or else thinking it was safe enough to return to Itaewon again. I'm in a couple of groups on Facebook for foreigners living here, and that debate was going on in them

My choice would probably be neither. I'm averse to crowds even under safe conditions (introvert). Used to enjoy my friends' Halloween parties, which were maybe a dozen or two tops, most of whom I at least vaguely knew, often less.

This park is really dark at night so no trick or treaters. The people with kids here tend to take them to a local neighbourhood. They also visit friends here who give out some treats.

Disorderly crowds are dangerous unless they are upstaging the people of power! This must be stopped according to hollow minded believers ... why should they oppose narcissi ... exploding psyche, blossoming?

It may be metaphorical and thus not for the one-liners ...

We don't get much action around our house at Halloween. There is a park across the street and some anti Halloween people on a double lot next door. It is a case of location, location, location. The occasional person who shows up gets a Toonie (Twonie?) and we don't have leftover candy!

NS has 18-21 degrees today. Perfect for Halloween. I just dropped off some treats for my Korean neighbours and will leave a self serve bowl in front of the door. I don’t give candy, I have some halloween pencils and notebooks. Usually get less than 10.

Temperature-wise, SW Ontario is lovely. Low 20s and will still be high teens by traditional trick or treat time. However, there are showers and possible thunderstorms in the forecast between now and late evening so that could put a damper on things.

We carved a pumpkin at the big guys, and we've got candy there, so I'll take myself and my witches hat and hallowe'en nails over to his house and hand out candy there. He thinks we might get 20 kids. More college kids than young families in his neighbourhood. My street has TWO children, and I delivered their nice chocolate bars to them this afternoon, then Lucy will be locked in the house with lights off so she doesn't go insane.
