Camped st Fitzroy provincial park from Monday to Thursday. Thunderstorm Monday afternoon with a lot of rain and heavy rain Wednesday afternoon. A doe and a fawn wandered around the campground every day. Great trip. Celebrated our anniversary today with brunch at Riverest in L'Orignal, a restaurant in a beautiful old home or hotel that has just been renovated. It seems rain will fall daily here for a while. The part of the lawn I mowed Monday morning grew close to two inches but I needed to mow a part that has not been mowed for about two weeks. More to mow when it gets dry enough.

Made some pretty decent chicken enchiladas, a sorta guacamole (too much cilantro, not enough avocado) and a Mexican inspired salad for supper. Pretty nice. Going to try to make a beef wellington as my birthday dinner tomorrow night with my daughter.

I wish my bad rib would stop hurting. It just makes everything twice as much effort, it seems.

We went to our favourite farmer's market today then to my sister's for supper. We met my sister and her husband at the market. This is a year round market in downtown. They close off a couple of streets and set up vendors. It's very nice. There was also an art show on extra streets. It was a nice day. I ended up with a bit of a sunburn.

Good morning! As we chat about plants and waterpipes, camping in the rain and anniversaries, enchiladas and farmers markets and shopping with neighbours, and all he other things that arise, let us gather in spirit round the Coffee Cart, where hot beverages of all kinds are available, and a listening, sympathetic ear await. All are welcome.

Today is a sad Sunday. It marks the middle of the summer meaning the summer is half gone. I hope everyone enjoys today inspite of sunburns or damaged ribs. I have spent several nights in the past sleeping in easy chairs because it hurt too much to lie down. Diclofenac and Advil helped only a little.

Having a malfunctioning body part makes things difficult indeed. Hoping your situation improves soon.

My day will be spent gathering together some of the necessities for next week's family camp at a lake. Three adult kids with various camping units at different times, a selection of grands, a couple of great grands....All at a delightful northern lake with a sandy beach, clean water, trees, birds (including loons), no cell service, peace and quiet, catch up conversations etc.
The 6th of August was planned as the BIG DAY with lots of people popping up for the day - total head count of 21. Some haven't seen each other since pre Covid or at all - new little ones! Unfortunately, due to a glitch in the health care system I have been scheduled for a CT scan in Saskatoon that day, long and inexcusable lack of planning and follow up! I heard that the responsible people got blasted by those at the top. Not that it solves our disappointment! Oh well - it sounds like a couple of the youngsters are already planning to do the driving, and there are plenty of responsible people to take care of the little guys.

Tomorrow I have yet another medical appt. followed by watching two grandsons in an important baseball game. Tis Playoff time for the League Championship and they are doing well.

Just remembering some of the lakes where we camped: Lac Isle and Kimbal? Lakes in Meadowlake provincial park and tne lake north of PANP where Camp Tapawingo is. On canoe trips I have camped at Lac la Biche and several on the Churchill River. The farthest north I camped in Saskatchewan was Wollaston Lake. Saskatchewan has way more beautiful lakes than Alberta. Thanks for sparking some fond memories. I hope it is a great trip for everyone. Too bad about the timing of the scan.

Tapawingo is on Candle Lake and I too have some great memories from time spent there. Hubby was the Sailing Instructor for a couple of years while we had babies. The kids who attended still talk about their adventures!

Saskatchewan lakes are wonderful. Our family will be going to Zeden Lake in the Narrow Hills Provincial Park. Camping as we believe it should be - no power, no water, no sewer, ne cell phones! I'm looking forward to watching the five year old great grand being introduced to paddleboarding.

I was tempted to tell my Family Doctor that I was tired of having the health care system testing my patience repeatedly. I come out Negative every time!

Good morning! From family camps with various arrivals and departures, to CT scans, memories of camping, thoughts on taping ribs, and marking midsummer, the Coffee Cart is here to offer support and community for all of it. Also we could note that today is Harry Potter's birthday. Anyway, the Cart is open for all, with hot beverages and comfy chairs and fluffed cushions ready. Come on in!

I may need to flopp on the cushions at end of the day.

Busy days with grandchildren ending with a trip to the local smallish zoo today.

I had a stomach bug yesterday. Made for much quieter day. Glad to have bounced back

What tense is a flop compared to flappers? Intense ... rather that the stress that's out there ... chronic? Part of the personality getting itself into disorder!

This happens to folk to cause agitation and WOKE in ning (forerunner to ninga) 9 dark things! Sight unobserved! So much we cannot see because of blinding desires ... may be part and parcel of the vast unknown abyss ... deficiency? Imagine us entering a place of great knowledge that is presently beyond us ... an abstract?

Kay, the camping trip sounds wonderful
Hope the tummy bug doesn't last long, or travel around the entire family.

One daughter just phoned to ask if I could bring some cutlery, plates, bowls and plastic glasses. She just realised that she didn't have any spares at all and didn't want to be washing dishes all the time! We have never camped in a shared trailer before so it will be a very new experience for us. Hubby is anticipating naps in the shade. I think I'll just be, and feel like a lazy old lady. I do have a pile of books I am willing to read to the kids plus one called Grindstone Farm, published about 1950, for the ten year old. That was the name of our fruit and veggie farm - and our son calls his business Grindstone Welding.
The Alberta contingent are on their way!

@Jayne, loves not for tummy bug, but for getting worn out with grandkids!

Beats worn out over just breathing, which is my current situation. Tried to make it through today with no nasal spray, not enough painkillers and no decongestants, which tend to make me "nervous". Better now. Not working again til Thursday, so I can rest a bit.

Kay, camping sounds wonderful!

Ah, vacation! Got three loads of laundry done at a friends house, cut up a whole bush to fit into the green bin ( three more to go) and cooked red currants into juice to make jelly. Picked up a transport chair at Red Cross to take the old neighbour around the marsh sometime this week.
Good news: water repair is going to happen on Wednesday. So I am going to the city shopping tomorrow.

I've had my nose in a book most of the day. That's all I could muster. I was awake half the night so am really tired today. Now I just want to veg in front of the TV and the park wifi signal is really poor. :(
