x-country skiing i remember that
i'd find the right rhythm-to-not-being-to-distracted-by-the-scenery-ratio
go 'whoo-hoo!'
and then face plant when i became aware
that i was x-country skiing in rhythm:3

What a day. Interviewed four candidates for my new IT position. Only one was even worth further consideration. Last time I hired, we had at least two good candidates in the first batch and the one we hired still works for me after 8 years. Back to the resume file to reconsider some of the ones we left off the shortlist.o_O

Interviewing sure is an interesting process, isn't it Mendalla! Sorry to hear the candidates didn't measure up well on this round. Lots of time goes into that whole selection process though ... and it seems you made an excellent choice last time.

I've been off work the past two days which is nice. Did a bunch of church stuff yesterday, including going to Presbytery mtg - heard a great presentation from Carla from EDGE. And I gave a brief presentation re our recent Chase the Chill project. Ted Smith, our President of Conference was a special visitor & preached a great message. Later he talked about the exciting plans for redevelopment at Five Oaks in partnership with Earthship - sounds quite wonderful! On the minus side - there wasn't even quorum at the Pres mtg - serious lack of involvement recently that needs some thought.

Today went to see The Imitation Game in the afternoon - excellent movie. A bit stunned by the ending though. Thankfully our attitudes toward homosexuality have evolved since then.

Now we're hoping the Region will arrive soon to unthaw the water pipe to our church - there is a huge community event there on Thurs. evening - Comedy Festival - and we really MUST have the water on. We've been waiting since Saturday ... along with many others I imagine. Fingers crossed, prayers said.

do people still use cover letters these days?

are they any different?

ever had a resume/cover letter that knocked your socks off?

Yup - letters are still included - although most everything is submitted online!

Nope - haven't had my socks knocked off!

wow @Carolla no quorum at Presbytery. I'm shocked
At our recent meeting we even held an election for chair. This was novel, it meant 2 people agreed to let their names stand.

Indeed Tabitha - one potential issue is that this presbytery meets monthly - waaay too often, IMO. I think I read elsewhere yours convenes only a couple of time a year - likely a much better model in many respects.

It was pretty embarassing for the Chair I think, with the Pres of Conference visiting ...

we meet 2x year but from Friday supper to close of Sunday worship. Our distances are fairly long-but not as long as Gord and Northwind.

Greetings all!

Have a wonderful time in Florida, Pinga.

Wow, way to go on your skiing outing, Tabitha - amazing!

Our Presbytery meets this weekend . . . they also meet twice a year, sounds like the same time frame as yours, Tabitha. I've never heard of them not having a quorum, but I'm sure at some point that might be a real possibility.

Off for my monthly massage soon - good start to the day :).

Trying to organize files and pictues on my home computer . . . a huge task (of deleting things you don't really need, and organizing files and folders).

Have a great day everyone!

Sheeeesh - I just cringe when I click on something on my computer and discover a whole bunch of items that didn't need saving - or should have been saved in a different place - or that I didn't recall saving. I don't enjoy the time I spend getting things into some sort of order - it isn't as enjoyable as doing a craft project, reading, baking, having tea with a another human, getting outside etc.

I'm a bit obsessive with organizing files and email. My GMail labels list is getting a tad long even now that I am nesting some of them. Probably a side effect of being a librarian.

Nope, but it is driving me crazy, so I am going to spend a bit of time each day on these wintery days we have left, to work on it . . . and if it doesn't get done, nobody will know but me :). (And then of course, there will be a few rainy days in the summer too).

I've linked to them in the past. Today's is good:

Checking in with all the busyness here. I plan to clean and shop today. I always clean on Saturdays but rarely shop (hate it!!!). However, I have too many old clothes that rival the age of my children (24 years and up) so I think it's about time. Last weeks' Coldest Night of the Year walk was tremendously fun. And I posted a mistaken opinion on here somewhere. I thought it was done different nights in different cities but I was wrong. All one night. And not the first time I've been wrong. Nor the last. Have a good weekend all.
