Good morning! How is everyone? Hope you're all safe and warm. Snow and wind continue outside the front window, will be like this for most of the day. Seems like another fine day to get comfy in the Room and drink hot beverages, and discuss the snow, wind, cold, etc. All is ready, come on in.

In this season amy all have fresh hope that this insane world will improve from its integral enigmas ... being that they just don't know how to get it all together in peace ... thus fragmentation ...

Happenes when it blows in metaphorical literature as satyr-like verses of donkeys! Mere carriers ...

The sun has come out, the wind has abated as a new day unfolds. I borrow the words of a friend to wish you all well this Christmas -
Wishing you the warmth of Christ's love in the coldness of this world and the courage to find beauty in the midst of it.
May the hope of Christmas be yours all the year through.

It's been raining all through the night. That will be interesting on top of all the snow. I hope this moisture helps after the drought of late summer and fall.

Today will be quiet here. We'll probably watch @GordW lead his service via YouTube this evening. I'll mend my brother-in-law's socks so I can take them to him tomorrow. If the weather gods allow.

I finished knitting a shawl and am working on finishing a sock. I'm watching YouTube to get reminders on how to darn a sock. My brother-in-law loves hand knit socks. He also wears through the heels. :cautious: It's a good thing he's knitworthy.

After that terrible cold weather in the US, I bet millions of US residents now think that climate chance now is proven to be a hoax, because the world can’t be getting warmer.

Good morning, I am the first one in the room, starting the fire. Santa left some gifts under the tree by the fireplace, the Grinch is nowhere to be seen.
I am settling by the fire with a London Fog. Outside, flurries have dusted the landscape to make it winterly.
I am thinking of going for a walk just &or dawn, peaking into people’s houses. Windchill makes it -7, though.

Different traditions. A man in Germany who decorates his house for Christmas, Easter and Halloween with lights and more has been getting into trouble with neighbours and local bylaws, being threatened with a 5000 euro fine.
Here his house. My hunch, in Canada/ US, he would be in the news as an attraction. Source online Tagesspiegel

Good morning! Merry Christmas! Thanks to Mrs.Anteater for starting up a cheery fire. The Coffee Cart is ready, the seats are comfy. Come on in, have a hot beverage (or cold one, if you prefer), and join the conversation.

Many moons ago a neighbour used to make socks with heels that could be ripped out and replaced without damaging the entire sock. Maybe there is a Youtube for that?.

I think that's called an afterthought heel. There are many ways to do heels. I do the traditional flap and turn version. It didn't take long to mend them.

Merry Christmas all. We are living in a snow globe….not sure how much fell in two days but we think close to a metre. More than we had all last winter. Lake effect hit with a vengeance.

Ouch. In the end, I don't think we really got much accumulation, but the wind blew what we did get into some pretty impressive drifts. The one in front of my garage was packed so hard I basically had to chop it into chunks before I could shovel it away.

Very glad we paid for a snow clearing service, especially watching the operator clearing several inches of slush and snow from the driveway. Not sure how much snow we got as we got a lot of rain over about twelve or more hours. We tried to go for a welk in our yard yesterday but the variable ice layer over the snow made it very hard. We were able to walk on top for short distances before breaking through. We have a beautifully carved drift around the back and west side of our house. The First Trip into Ottawa on Thursday had mostly good roads as i brought B home from a week of radiation treatments. The second trip to get our son was more adventurous in both directions. The rain was so heavy between Ottawa and Casselmann I had to stop at a service centre to clean ice off the wipers, window, and headlights. About 15 km later we were back to driving in blowing snow.

Today is cold with a persistent wind. Our daughter's family came up from Verdun and will go home tomorrow so Christmas was much better than we expected a month ago.

It was a relaxed day for the most part, a good day.

Good morning! Happy boxing day! I discovered over the weekend that living in a snow globe loses its novelty fairly quickly. Ready for some different weather now. Anyway, I do hope you all had a great weekend of celebration. We can discuss it here over coffee and tea and more. All is ready, cpme join us.

The snow globe effect did not bother me as much as the persistent wind. Also the difficulty in going off cleared paths because of the crusty snow. It is not fun walking along the highway.

Yesterday was a bittersweet Christmas for me. My mom and dad have been gone 5 and 2 years respectively give or take a few months. Their loss really hit me this year. More than in previous years.

Mr Paradox and I decided not to do stockings this year. I didn't miss the shopping part one bit because it gets "same old, same old" as the years go by. However I missed the Christmas morning ritual of opening them.

We went to church realizing the next Christmas to fall on a Sunday will be eleven years from now. Was glad to be there.

Dinner with the family was lovely. This morning I have been pondering a few things as I finish cleaning up. The dishwasher is running as I type this. Have also started the undecorating which is something I always enjoy.

Our daughter's family is getting ready to return to Verdun. Today we need to do some preparation for B being in Ottawa for the next four days and for me to spend a day or two in Verdun while our daughter is in the hospital. Do not know when she will be going in yet. Bella will have to go to thr kennel again for the second week in a row. Our granddaughter is so funny it helped take the edge off the negatives right mow.

Quiet Christmas here this year. No one really took the initiative to do an extended family get-together (and one brother is just getting over COVID so wouldn't have come). We had dinner with Little M and partner on Christmas Eve. So just watched some TV, read, exercised, finished shoveling, and such.
