Room For All

Ugh had a good long nap after an eye appointment. Lots of issues going on with them way beyond just the eczema. Quite a few of the treatment options aren't a good match because of allergies and the bilingual label requirement means a specific omega3 supplement isn't available here. Might be doing a big procedure in 2023.

Good morning! How is everyone? Between the discussion of boring, about trips to the ER, and about eye troubles, and the many other things of which life is made, the Room is open and the Coffee Cart is ready. Come in and join us!

Last Christmas shopping done yesterday with daughter in law. They wanted me to buy them a shelf from Ikea for Christmas. They didn’t have the size we were looking for, but we could modify the pieces to end up with a similar size. (And it fit into the car better). I forgot my mask when we went into the mall and I noticed I still feel mostly uncomfortable without it.
Today is a Quaker online presentation and a supper with a friend. Cookie baking tomorrow.

Chilly here (but still warmer than Kay's neck of the woods). At least the sun is out for the first time in a few days and the rather bitter wind we had last night has died down.

New story competition underway so this will likely be a writing weekend. 1000 word max and has to be based on one of two winter-y pictures. Full details in Ape's Writing Thread in Pop & Chips.

Oh, and an upgrade here, but it's a maintenance update. No major impacts.

Sunny and chilly here. Doing an early Christmas lunch with daughter's family and working on bulletin for next Sunday.

I came over for some hot coffee. My older son gave me a box of my life long favourite chocolates yesterday. Every December for many years he has gone on a hunt for Black Magic for his mum! I've set them on the table for sharing. Let me know which flavours you like best of all. My favourite is orange cream!

I remember Black Magic Chocolates! Caramel cubes were my favourites.
Glad to hear your sale went well Northwind. Was any particular item a crowd pleaser?
I went off this morning to gather up some kids to go see Santa - every year one of our neighbourhood associations organizes Santa to be pulled in his big red sleigh (with wheels) by two big white work horses, harnesses jingling and Santa waving and 'ho ho ho Merry Christmas-ing' all the way. It was fun, topped off by some hot chocolate. Put up a few decorations around the house this afternoon.
This evening we watched two more episodes of "Three Pines" - an amazon video production featuring characters & setting from Louise Penny's mystery novels. We've been enjoying it.

Good morning! From sales and crafts, weather and shopping, Black Magic chocolates and other favourite things, the conversation rolls smoothly. The Coffee Cart is up ands running, come on in and join us.

Mom's back/hip seems to be improving on its own. So....not a fracture, but some kind of inflammation and aggravation. We hesitated bringing her to Emergency on the weekends due to the long wait times and the numbers of shady characters/overdoses/police roaming around. So, today, she was okay to get in and out of a car in order to go to church. Amazing. We will start her physio again but avoid the hip exercises for a bit. Mom has a low tolerance for pain these days, and her dementia doesn't let her figure out new ways of doing things that might not use the painful part of her body. We had definitely panicked, but, for the moment, we are out of panic mode.

I'm so glad that your Mom is okay Nancy....its better to have had her checked out by a doctor even if it just gave all of you some assurance and solutions.

'We called the doctor right away...can't get in until January 11th. Or we could call the same day clinic tomorrow. Or the nightmare of the Emergency Department. Those were our options, but rest and anti inflammatory pills seemed to do the trick.

Doctors are frustrated by the medical system these days. My husband was told to go to his family doctor about getting a referral for a neurologist due to some issues that are interfering with sleep. He asked: Do you recommend a particular neurologist? The oncologist said: If they are a neurologist and have a heart beat, consider yourself lucky! We can't even get in to the family doctor until the end of February, and I made the appointment two weeks ago.

It's the same around here too. The health care system is a mess.

Good Monday morning! From hips and backs, to socks and feet, to all kinds of thoughts, the Room and the Coffee Cart are here to try to help make sense of it all, or at least offer a listening ear. All is ready, come on in.

Today my party planning will come to fruition. It is for our retired teachers' group. I chose 'peace' as a theme, and everyone will get a "Peace by Chocolate" treat. I'm not really a party person, so not sure why I get picked every year to organize this get-together. Maybe because I'm the youngest in the group?

I got a call from my financial planner last night, telling me tat he has found a replacement financial planner for himself as he is now too sick to continue working. Turns out he has only weeks to months to live. I knew he has had cancer treatment years ago, so I assume the cancer has returned. I met him when we both were in a program for couples going through separation, his daughter is about the same age as my son. That was 17 years ago.
I am still somewhat in shock.

Sorry to hear this @Mrs.Anteater
It sounds like he was an important person in your life. Maybe even a personal friend.

My accountant retired a year ago and my dentist and dental hygienist are also enjoying their golden years. I am sure my family doctor will be next. Sometimes we know these people for years, even decades, and it is an adjustment when they go out of our lives.
