Room For All

Welcome to Wondercafe2!

A community where we discuss, share, and have some fun together. Join today and become a part of it!

Good morning! We thank Seeler and helper for the rolls, (delicious, by the way!) swap tales about snow, about cooking skills and baking, and all the other topics that arise. The coffee cart is ready to host conversations and community. C'mon in.

I love messing around in the psyche ... an item said to be preserved by brute believers by exclusion from virtue!

Thus I am beyond whatever you can conjure up ... because it is farce Ide ... (a former thing).

Just spent time in our local public library's archives, looking up something I had transcribed from tapes back when I was about 20 years old. Kind of neat to think of the very young me listening to a WWI vet tell his story. He sure didn't pull any punches...told everything exactly as it was with no embellishment. So, I heard/wrote about madams, lots of curse words, the mud and water....

That's how those stories need to be told. The stuff that inevitably comes out around Nov. 11 is often sanitized. But people need to hear what war and being a soldier is really like. Glad the vet you interviewed did just that.

Yes...he was a pretty neat guy. When I worked at the library, someone had reviewed these transcripts and told me....There's a book in there!

Finally saw my nephews for birthday celebration and to pass on Halloween treats. There are lingering coughs so we went to the lake to be safe. No one was at the gates though and I had a mask but not ready to grab so went through the office maskless. We ended up inside at the clubhouse for a while as the kids complained about being cold - I was masked up for that. Had fun but am I ever exhausted! I need to go grab dinner now, 11pm ish because I was sleeping earlier.
There were a handful of cars in the parking lot but unsure what for, besides the one person in the office I didn't see anyone else besides some ducks on a small patch of water on the lake. Nothing is quite skating ready yet.

Good morning! The words of a soldier from the trenches are sure a lot more moving (and often more disturbing) than the typical Remembrance Day recital. For the opportunity to read/ hear them we give thanks. Also for family celebrations, even if it got a bit cold. Anyway, the Room is warm, the tea, coffee, etc. is hot. Come on in and join us.

Good morning! Welcome to Reign of Christ Sunday, the last Sunday before Advent. Hope your weather is decent, your tea/coffee hot and good, your day off to a good start. Oh yes-- Grey Cup Sunday! How many will be watching?
Anyway, the coffee cart is up and running, c'mon by for hot beverages and conversations.

Did you hear about the church with a leaky roof?

They celebrated the Rain of Christ.

No Grey Cup planned here. Just writing (I hope) and housework.

No Grey Cup here. It will be a dreary day according to the forecast. Yesterday was sunny and cool. We had a craft sale at the park. Unfortunately it was quiet and probably not well advertised. Today I'll be inside tidying my creative mess. We'll probably join @GordW and crew for that church service.

Will you retry the sale with more advertising and/or diff location? Lots of time yet til Xmas!

Well this was a park sale. I'm thinking of different options. One is that a couple of us get together at a local Wednesday market that has reasonably priced tables. I may also put them on our park FB group and try to sell that way. Some will be gifts maybe too.

We went from warm Fall to snowy winter in a day. Lots of snow last night and today, complete with needing to clear driveways, and a large number of accidents on the roadways. I went for a short walk and managed to stay upright. Looks pretty outside.

Oh, we've had a foot or so of it. Tried to take dog around block this aft, wading through a foot or more on sidewalks, if you try to walk on roads, there is slippery stuff underneath. I do not love winter.

Something funny from Berlin news:
Berlin’ s crematorium has an open house today.

( I actually like the idea, just funny thought of all the people walking out of it again) ”Open house” in German is “ Day of the open door”)

Good morning all. Weather and park sales, open houses at offbeat places, and all kinds of stuff to chat about and chew over. The coffee cart is ready to help! Come n in and join us.

Portal into something unexpected????

Latest health concerns: Mom is blind in one eye due to cornea surgery that didn't work. Apparently an unused eye is prone to infection. The doctor sewed her eyelid closed to try to prevent that. Today...something is going really wrong; she needs creams, eyedrops and antibiotics. And there is a good chance that she will lose that eye. All this for a lady who is slowly losing her memory and dealing with the sadness that goes with that.

I feel like a total non-minister theological nerd today. New big guy, I asked to see his regular reference bible (yeah, my social skills are like that - "hey, what's your favourite bible translation?")

NIV red letter. Can we co-exist? Probably, because he's a cabinet-maker/contractor, not a bible nerd.

Hugs to NancyMom. We all do the best we can to be gentle loving and helpful during that old age period, sometimes painful and difficult.
