I continued on to the LaHavre ferry. The place is famous for the bakery on the other side- and the ferry is free. So I picked up two loaves of bread at the bakery. The building is a very old one with several levels and big boulders built into the walls. It also houses a gift shop with art from several local artists and I couldn’t help and pick up some lovely water colour cards. They suggested to me to drop in to the pottery place just next door, where I had to buy these two painted tiles which are just my type of colours. I am thinking of building them into my kitchen back splash, once I get to do the work. Until then, they will just hang out there.
Here a pic from my ” local souvenirs” and the pottery place outside.A02CE994-368B-4603-8168-FD227BC69148.jpeg84BB6D00-EADF-4AE8-A457-C96CD1565595.jpeg

Guys are terrible for admitting anything is off. I'm in a queue right now for ultrasound and x-rays on my heel that's been bothering me for over a year. When I finally went to a doctor for it 2 days ago he asked me how I was even walking. Apparently, this is one hell of a bone spur I have on my left heel.

Hope all goes well with your guy. This one is just an idiot who may have torn his achillies.
A chilling weakness not knowing your heels ... you be ill informed of when to kick them up ...

My last place to visit was Crescent Beach. With the tide out, there was enough space and I didn’t realize that this was a beach to drive onto with a car- which I think is a nice thing for people with mobility issues. However, of all the cars there, it only looked like one or two really had people with mobility issues with them.
I decided to walk the length of the beach in the area of where the waves just hit the land- the shallow water was kind of warm. Thought the sand would be good for my orthotic needing feet. But the sand was actually not soft and as I got to the middle of the the beach, my right heel started to hurt. I continued on and by the time I was at the end of the beach, both heels hurt like hell. I returned on the softer part of the sand, wondering what I could have done, there was no apparent injury, no shells I could have cut myself on. By the time I got back to the car, I could barely walk. When I examined my feet, I had huge blisters on my heels.
Ha, so much to walking on the beach is healthy for bad feet. Still a bit sore today, but I am just working around the yard today. I suppose, another sign of getting old.

My grandpa died wee hours this morning. Situation is rather frustrating, my dad flew back home yesterday after bith my parents had been there over a week. No one was with him at the time, he was found unresponsive. Not sure if he was on oxygen, many different nurses and every time there was a change they would say he didn't need it until at some point his level would drop. He wasn't doing great anyway though, was extremely tired, had trouble eating because of it.

Sorry to hear about your grandfather, ChemGal. Condolences to you, and to all his friends and family, may he rest in peace, and may many happy memories bring you comfort.

Thanks. I hope your heel gets better soon.

Hubby apparently had a lousy sleep. The nitro patch gave him headaches and body aches. They've given him a bit of morphine. He's had more blood drawn and should hear when the ultrasound happens soon.
Supportive thoughts winging to Chansen and Mr Northwind. Hope your problems get diagnosed and sorted quickly and painlessly.

Hubby was able to get sent to Victoria for his angiogram today. His bloodwork and blood pressure have improved. He's had relief from his headache. He said that depending on what they find in the angio, he'll either be brought back here or will be released and will have to find his way home. I'm not sure whether the release is reality or wishful thinking. I should know soon.

Seems weird they could discharge him right from Victoria hospital ... seems like he should legally still be in care of the admitting hospital if just being transferred for a procedure. But that's just my thought .... Anyway - glad to hear he's feeling better!

Oh @chansen ... hang in there - and remember bodies change as we (dare I say it!?) age!! Denial doesn't really work! Pay attention!! :p

He's spending the night in the hospital in Nanaimo. Arteries were good. They need to determine what drugs to prescribe. I suspect they want to monitor him too.

The two hospitals are part of a larger health authority. I suspect that's why they could admit him in one hospital and discharge him from another. That's just a guess.
