How's the hound - is somebody else walking it for you?

My hound has been totally spoiled by her favorite man. My neighbour/ex-co-worker/early professor, Jim, who walks Lucy every morning, Monday to Friday, at about 7:20 a.m., has, since my accident, been walking her Mon-Sat at 7:20 and 4:30, and Sun at 1:30. And it's been good training for my planned return to walking, next Monday, because he's a stricter walker than I, double 5' leashed with the halti, instead of my sloppier 6' single leash with halti, that requires a bit more strength, attention and control.

Good morning! As we deal with broken bones in various places, we add wishes for smooth healing. Also thanks for neighbours who can help out with things like dog walking, etc. For these, and other, topics, the coffee cart is open and ready to serve. C'mon in.

Actually, here in the Room, coffee or tea or other hot beverage is always fresh, made to order, as it is needed. The coffee/tea is fresh, the baked goodies have no calories, and all the kids are above average. Also the nice comfy sofas are great places for quick naps.

Good morning. This is hot cross bun season. I have a plate of freshly baked, still warm from the oven buns for the room. The coffee is delicious. Thanks Red

Mm. Don't mind if i do. Got a nice dump of rain last night so hopefully that's a sign that Spring is really here. Still grey out today, but wasn't raining when I came to work. Drinking Duke of Earl from Tea Haus for my tea. Discovered I still had some in the tea cupboard at work.

Just caught up reading the posts. So good to be able to read the notes and see how you are doing. I wonder what it would be like if we could approach a friend, and have downloaded their status' since last seeing them -- the highs/lows, the expressions "in the moment", rather than two weeks later. Would be weird, but, interesting at the same time.

I've been busy with
  • family (had the two granddaughters for 48hrs! They are busy, so time of recovery when gone)
  • church - dealing with a couple of challenging situations. As my husband said "it's this crap which makes him no longer go to church".
  • upcoming wedding -- getting ready, making plans

I'm not used to going to events, the fussing & planning , it is good to do so, and i am so looking forward to it, but, here are a few things that ended up in my agenda and time off. Not getting any sewing done!
  1. Bought a car -- ok, not specifically for the wedding, but, it was time and will be good for transporting everyone around
  2. Son & husband got new suits
  3. Bought a dress-up dress
  4. Bought new bras -- did not realize how expensive they could be, but nice to have properly fitted
  5. Advised that dress bought not really a mother of the groom dress -- so, ended up with a different dress
  6. Bought shoes for wearing with said dress
  7. Got 2nd dress altered
  8. Did practice of hair up-do for wedding
  9. Got pedicure
  10. Sweated over other clothes that were suitable for family outings and visits around wedding -- a good friend took me to her favourite store in Stratford -- success!
  11. Bought jewelry to wear with 2nd dress
  12. Got 1st dress altered
  13. Repunched ears to be able to wear earrings
  14. Bought makeup (yeah, i don't wear makeup but realize it really does look good in photos)
  15. Borrowed clutch purse -- but needs some repairs.
  16. Plans made for makeup practice run & makeup on day of wedding

Then there is all the other stuff, like confirming accommodation, reaching out to folks for confirmation if coming, talking through sleeping arrangements at our house for early guests & those staying longer, special dinners and brunches.

Ooo JayneWonders - that's a long list! I've continued the dress shopping with my friend who will be mother-of-bride this summer. It's tedious! LOL Neither of us really enjoys 'shopping'. So far we've not had luck. Her daughter now recommended 2 online sources she & friends have used with great success - so she ordered 3 'try on' outfits from one place & I think she is just going to order it & call it done! We'd both much rather be walking in the sunshine looking for new birds or working in our gardens!

We've just made some summer reservations. It's nice to start getting things planned out. We had planned to go back to Ontario but decided to stay closer to home because of the gas prices. So we'll be in Kelowna for May then Edmonton area for a week in mid-June. I'm looking forward to the weekend in Edmonton area because there is a rally for our RV brand. Friends went last year and had a blast.

I'm excited for you Jayne! Northwind...excited for you and your travels also. I've been doing the hospital rounds with my husband the last few days. He has a great many things wrong but they seem to all stem from kidney/bladder issues. It seems that things had to get to crisis mode to be taken serious but now he is booked for every test and specialist under the sun, or so it seems. They wouldn't let me in to Emergency with him at first, but by the third time, they asked if I wanted to be there when the doctor talked to him. I took notes. I'm sure glad I was there as my husband is a little slow at processing information when he is anxious, and this doctor talked faster than anyone I've ever met. I decided he was very good at his job, very smart, but probably hyped up on cocaine! But he sure got action. Tomorrow we see the city's only urologist, who usually has a long waiting list. And a million other referrals and appointments are filling the calendar.

Strange coincidence. Had an unexpected text from middle sister to both baby sister and I this morning. She's moved her mother-in-law into a home, and is moving to Edmonton to be close to her middle child, a daughter, who has recently married and had a baby. June 17th is her closing date.

What is a “ mother -of-the-groom dress??”
My son is getting married next year in May, so I talked to d-i-l when we were out shopping yesterday. They can’t afford catering, so the plan is potluck, and I happily committed yesterday to making a food handling course and watch the food at the wedding- so I will be wearing an apron, haha. I prefer to be busy rather than having to be in too many pictures. I will definitely not be wearing a dress .

Good morning! As we remember the exhausting lists of what we've been doing, tend to family health (and personal health) issues, make travel plans, and look for the perfect dress for the occasion, let us pause and gather round the coffee cart and regroup and reconnect. Allis ready, come and get it!

Doing yard work on good weather days, continuing painting and other touch ups on house along with reorganizing spaces on rainy days and snowy days like today. Wife, daughter, and granddaughter are going to Calgary next week for nine days of visiting family and friends. I will mainly be getting spaces in yard ready for planting, cleaning up parts of the back part of the lot. We have lots of grass that we intend to replace with gardens, trees, and fruit bushes. We have over a cm of slush on our deck this morning.

Well, who knew that there is such a thing as what to wear for a "mother of the groom" dress.
First, the part I did know was that I had to wait to see what the mother of the bride was wearing, and of course, the guys colours, etc.
Understanding the style of the wedding was helpful.

Anyhow, there is a look.
Of course, it is a memorable occasion. My other son is in no hurry to have a relationship, let alone a wedding. (Though, with him, it could go from 0-60 in a month, lol)

I'm so looking forward to being with them as they celebrate. There relationship has had to face a few hurdles and they have chosen each other and are a great team. I am thrilled for them both. To be with those who love them will be a good thing.
